There are two aspects to the MV: the song and the video. The two are divorced from each other semantically. The lyrics are about basketball and drugs (typical rap fanfare) hence the name MVP (most valuable player), they are basically just flexing. Irina Kairatovna (IK) made the song because 2 of the members love basketball and wanted to write a song which includes basketball references (if you listen to the lyrics closely they say Jordan, Rodman, jab step, Kareem Abdul Jabar, bench, triple double). The video has a more political meaning, because IK's MV director (same guy for all of the videos) is a person with a lot of strong political opinions, which he doesn't shy away from putting into the MVs he makes. The MV is basically about the city of Almaty and its citizens. This is where IK lives. It's Kazakhstan's largest and most populous city located in a valley next to the mountain range. It's also most diverse and culturally rich city in the country, for a while it used to be our capital, before it got moved to a city named Nur-sultan. Think about these two cities like NYC vs DC in the States. The drag queens and queer folk dancing in the beginning represents the fact that current youth is much more progressive as compared to previous generations. The song featured here is an unreleased remix of Tokyo Drift by Irina Kairatovna and has nothing to do with the actual song. More precisely I'd say the entire video is a jab at a single person who is running the city behind the scenes. He is doing a piss poor job at it, while enriching himself and his family and engaging in predatory activities (think Jeffrey Epstein). I won't name him, but basically everybody in Almaty knows who he is, since he's very well-connected. Let's call him Jeff. Anyways, coming back to the video: at that party there is a queer person named Shyryn, who gets a call. She used to be an actress and the one calling her is her old agent, who offers her a new job opportunity. She looks p butch now, but that wasn't the case in the past, so she looked differently in her older work. So her old videos are found out by fictional MV director of IK who wants her to star in their new song (which is MVP) MV. Her agent tells her this and offers the role, asking her if she likes IK's music (she says 'no'), and suggests to just wear a wig (since the director might NOT like her current look). She reluctantly agrees after asking how much are they willing to pay her. (We don't know the response but we can assume that it satisfied her.) The first section (MV within an MV) shows that the city is suffering from ecological catastrophe that is not being addressed: polluted air generated by coal plants. That's why Marka (one of IK members and the first rapper featured in the video) is playing basketball in the smog skies of Almaty, and that's why everyone who's in the game is covered soot (their teeth and faces) and so is the bball which is jet black. Once this section ends (and so does Marka's verse), so does the MV within an MV, and now we see Jeff watching this fictional MV (after it's released) and taking a liking to Shyryn in a wig. He orders his goons to get her so that he can coerce her into sex basically. The second section is a bit less direct: it shows peasants (Almaty citizens basically) building a road in a very outdated way. The reference here is that there were news that real life Jeff somehow built a road towards his mansion outside Almaty (on a public dime of course), despite not having any official role in the government. So this section is a metaphor to how this process went and what our current political system actually is: a feudal kingdom under the guise of democracy. Hence, the second rapper and other laborers being dressed in medieval garbs and their overseer walking around with a stick. One portion of this shows peasants dancing around second rapper, Ilya and that's a reference to Henri Matisse painting, Dance. Explaining why IK used this reference is hard, but let's just say it's an inversion of the original meaning of the painting (freedom, hedonism), since they're clearly not enjoying their work and probably were forced into it anyway. The goons kidnap Shyryn, and here you can see two posters in her kitchen, Leon The Professional and Kill Bill. Both will come later into the play. Aldik (member of IK who's not featured on the song because he doesn't like basketball, preferring football instead) steals friend chicken, and this is just product placement of Irina Kairatovna's new fried chicken place in Almaty. The third section shows the goons driving down the road that was built by peasants and eating fried chicken they stole. The goons bring Shyryn to their master, but before that they need to hide her "imperfections", her short hair, and tattoos. Once they do that they present her to Jeff and she swiftly reveals her scars and kills him. The animated sequence is a reference to a similar sequence in Kill Bill, where a girl kills a pedophile. The Leon poster and her scars allude to the fact that she had a tough past and was trained by someone to be a hitman basically. Anyways, the meaning here is that the youth will eventually rise up and replace the current political order (that's why it had to be queer person doing it in the MV, since they represent the progressive future basically). The arabic script throughout the video according to some people is a reference to the fact that Kazakhstan started using Latin script recently, but I'm not too sure on this one. Anyway, this should cover most of the video. Peace, and thanks for the reaction.
