Nature Boy has everything, lovely lyrics, beautiful arrangement and the always smooth Nat King Cole singing. Summertime also has a beautiful arrangement and the singing between Ella and Louis is iconic with their voices. I too like Nature Boy just a little bit more but both are music to my ears. Shawn and Trey, Wow, this is a throwback song battle of a different time, a simpler time of music. Good facts you research and share. Nature Boy, a no. 1 song. It is a classic standard. Nat King Cole's version is certainly the hit version, the definitive version. You guys are right in your comments, a beautiful arrangement of strings, a very nice melody and meaningful lyrics. Summertime is another classic standard. This version by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, a great combo of Jazz artists. We can hear the contrast of singing styles, Ella's clear voice and Louis' gravely voice. Smooth jazzy arrangement. You are right, a slow pace with orchestral sound. These great singers had distinct vocal abilities. You both chose Nature Boy as the winner of this battle. I agree, I choose Nature Boy. Classic song battle Fran.

I hate to claim something is the best when talking about music, but after listening to all kinds of music for 70 years, I can say Nast King Cole is my favorite. This song was not the best example of his work.
