At some point K-pop companies are going to realize that i-fans don’t appreciate jokes about weight, unlike k-fans and c-fans who generally don’t see anything wrong with it. K-netz actually criticized i-fans for overreacting to Enhypen calling one of their members a pig and an elephant because of his round face. NCT Dream has also gotten flak for making jokes about Haechan's skin tone. I’ve heard native Asians argue that humans are primarily visual, so why is it considered offensive to discuss their visual attributes? I think this disparity in what's considered offensive comes from significant cultural and historical differences between Asian and Western societies, including racial segregation, racialized police violence, and institutionalized medical bias. What's considered the norm in one place can be unheard of in others, like the use of the word "spaz" in the UK and Australia compared to the US. As K-pop expands into international markets, cultural awareness should be a much higher priority for both idols and staff than it seems to be at the moment. And while idols should feel free to be able to make potentially insensitive jokes among friends, as public figures that needs to be kept off-camera - that goes for all celebrities everywhere.

I'm not saying Xiaojun's joke was okay but what's acceptable in every culture is different. Like where I come from, being able to make jokes about weight is an indicator of being comfortable with each other. Like when when somebody gets chubby we would joke how he must be happy and carefree lately to have gained weight. My mom would always make fun of my skinny body and how I have chicken legs but I never once felt insecure cuz there's a big difference between lighthearted jokes and malicious jokes. Although in Kun's case it may be different cuz he might have a bit of insecurity about his shape so Xiaojun should have been a little more sensitive. But I don't think it's also right to guilty trip him. Honestly though, where I come from, Kun has the best body size. I wish he also knows how his weight is ideal in other cultures and that things like beauty and ideal weight are very relative.
