Finlandia, Op. 26, is a tone poem composed for orchestra by Jean Sibelius in 1899 and 1900. The composition HAS been nominated as the national anthem! Notice how the screaming crowd was completely silent throughout the performance, even though it was a time of great celebration for the ice hockey world championship.

Finnish lyrics to the composition? And yet the history of Finland, the sufferings the morning moth brings and raises high, brings to the world the light of knowledge the morning already wins your day wins, oh homeland. It cannot be translated so smoothly into any language! To a song!
