I think the viking culture is the one culture that regardless of where you are from, it will intrigue you. I follow the norse path and most of my heritage is traced back to the vikings. Alot of norse mythology has been integrated into christianity. Like Christmas was moved to December to coincide with a norse/ pagan holiday.

Not to get all history teacher 🤓 but the reason for that is two fold as I understand it. One the one hand you have the Christians who, pre 10th century were suffering heavily from Danish raids on England. They were desperate to bring the Danes into their fold to prevent them from plundering their country. Also, because the best defense against a Dane, is other, friendly (er) Danes. But then from the Danish side, you have the Norse men who heard of Christ, and to them they go, “well shit! They only have one god…but he’s so bad ass he came back from the dead after he was killed! I need to know more about him.” So the melding of pagan and Christian traditions came from both sides as Danes were converted to Christianity.

I think it is because parts of Norse culture is worth emulating. The emphasis on the virtue of bravery. The ritualistic feasting and drinking to build community.

Dan Vasc introduced me to Peyton Parrish. Harmonious grit is right. His Viking songs are all inspiring.

Hey, Dave. Love your reactions! Your break downs of the music also helps those of us that don't have a music background, without going into in depth music terminology. I love Parrish's work. His songs has helped me get into a mental zone to write again, and stay on track. A suggestion I think you might like to try next is Lyric Noel. She is a great rock artist! Try Carol of the Bells first. You won't see it coming. ;) Keep up the good work!

The hammer may say "sig" instead of "mjilnior" and the spear H&K vs "Gugnier" but the tradition is the same. And in a sense the power of the old gods is in the common mans hands. And you are correct cause sometimes its easier to relate to a hostile combatant than the innocent we protect. Won't stop me from protecting them but there's a certain sorrow when one has to put down a worthy combatant to protect people who deride and sneer until the wolves are at.THEIR door

I’m of Danish descent on both my mother and fathers sides. Traced my genealogy back to Lodbrok himself through Gorm the Old, through Harthacnut I, and then Sigurd, to Ragnar. He did invade England and France but the show is largely exaggerated using sagas from multiple historical people, but the Army was real and all of his sons were Kings.

Never shall I lower my eyes before any challenge or Fo, Never shall i bend my knees before any lord or chieftain, Never shall i bow my head before any god or weight, But never i shall bend my back in service to my folk, For never I met a king so noble nor thrall so humble, That they could not take pride in the days work for the sake of there people. May the alfather grand us strength and wisdom to defeat our enemies and bring honor to our kin folk ⚔️🪓🛡🏹😈🤘🖤.
