At the core, it's a song about allowing yourself to be blind to your surroundings, to the point of missing out on the very things that you desire. I have to find a live performance if available.

Actually, this is the most complex of Rammsteins latest songs and videos and so far no reactor (in my opinion) has really understood it. Yes on its face it is a song about massive chesticles, but there is a ton of stuff going on here. One recurring theme with the band is the thought of what is "typically german" which here plays out with the alpine/bavarian setting and the traditional clothing. Now listen to all the things he does NOT expect from a woman: There is literally nothing left, that makes her a partner, while all the girls in the video work really hard and you get the feeling, that this settlement would not survive without them. The question the song asks is therefore (imho): Do you really believe that big boobs are all men are looking for? The young boys play the Rammstein stage performance with pyro (burning the gingerbread man) and the interaction betweeen Till and Flake and the Till hammer. There is a reference to the song "Waidmanns Heil", and to "Rosenrot" (in that song it was a rose in name, but the tradition uses the Edelweiß, which he tramples on in the end) He takes a risk to enjoy the view from the mountain although he is blind. There are several puns in the video, meaning visual references to figures of speech (pounding the meat, churning the butter and so on) It is very Rammstein, to give people the option to enjoy a song (and video) without thinking about it, but also when really digging into it.

I saw them live 3 weeks ago and still gives me so much energy thinking back to the event. They are my absolute #1 band, they will never disappoint. This is also an example video what makes Rammstein so unique and discovering the real meaning of what they want to say with this song and video. As a coincidence last week we past this little town south of Wilder Kaiser in Austria on our way to holidays. Of course we made a stop and took some pictures of this beautifull little farm and scenery. Actually it is a Heimatmuseum now and absolutely nothing reminds that Rammstein had their set over there.

@@sarkaniemi i think for us central europeans it doesn't matter where the video was shot. Germany, Austria and Switzerland are very similar and share a lot of culture. We call the cross-border area DACH (stands for Germany(D), Austria (A) and Swiss (CH)). No matter where the video was shot, it is set in the alpine region and actually everyone within DACH can relate to it.

@@somniumism Thanks for telling and explaining. Yes, people living in border areas usually share a lot and have a lot in common. When I saw the video for the first time, I was amazed that the Staatskapelle Dresden was involved in this title. After all, it is one of the leading and most traditional orchestras in the world. Also from my hometown. But I like the mixture of classic German folk music and the Rammstein sound. Maybe I can recommend a track from a band I've only recently come across, but which immediately fascinated me. The band is called "Heilung" and I would like to recommend the video for "Anoana" very much. What a voice from Maria Franz...
@sarkaniemi
@sarkaniemi Жыл бұрын
I listened to Anoana by Heilung, and it was nice, but not as exciting or awesome as this song or other songs by Rammstein. It was OK, but it keeps a lower pace and is calmer than most Rammstein songs. I honestly think the energy Rammstein send out to their fans through their music is amazing, and I'm both truly impressed and so grateful for that.

The edelweiss is symbolic for those who know it. It used to be that when a young man wanted to prove his love for a girl he would climb up into the mountains and look for some edelweiss (which often grows on cliffs), risking his life to bring her some. Tramping on it is like saying the heck with romance.

Or maybe it's kind of a wholesome song, but if you can just look past that, it's really saucey? Either message is the same: look past the superficial. Faces can be covered in make-up, clothes make the (wo)man, anyone can learn some wise-sounding words, but it's the inside, the mind, that matters And what's inside the mind, is that everyone loves boobs. To me this video is neither bizarre nor provocative. It‘s a fun song full of innuendos, references to themselves and a deeper meaning. For example the boy doing the Till-Hammer in slowmotion or Till stepping on the Edelweiss which should be a reference to their song Rosenrot. Burning the doll refers to their song Puppe. And blind Till has everything around him what he‘s looking for, he just doesn‘t see it…
