Nothing clears groups quite like a Venti, and nothing short of a full rework will ever change that. Not the greatest against bosses, but against groups he's probably the strongest character in the game (as a combo piece ofcourse).

you know..in teyvat, some archons are hilarious as VENTI is a drunk God, you'll find out about Zhongli in Li yue archon quest, even Raiden Shogun at Inazuma archon quest.

Also to answer your question, yes venti is still hella strong the only disadvantage is he can't suck enemies which are too big or have a shield on, but yet again i didn't play genshin at that time so i really couldn't tell im just judging by that video xD
