That "chop of his fingers like V for Vendetta" line is so good. That hand gesture is rude in British culture; as the story goes, those two fingers would be cut off if an English soldier was captured by the French, so that they could no longer use their army's signature longbows. "Flicking the Vs" (like "flipping the bird") was supposedly a taunt used by the English soldiers towards their opponents to indicate that they were still able to shoot them. So Guy is simultaneously referencing V for Vendetta's Guy Fawkes mask, flicking the Vs at Robin, and saying that he's going to cut off his fingers so that he can no longer shoot his bow.

Yer it was ment to be from the Battle of Agincourt but no actual historical proof can be found that thats where it came from tho it's definitely the most well known origin for the gesture so it has stuck and tbh I kinda hope this is the true start of it as it's a great story and I can also confirm as an Englishman the French REALLY don't like it when you do it to them on holiday!

Flipping the bird also came from the same place, especially when you consider the language barrier. When the English would yell "Pluck Yew", the French heard "F*ck you!" Then they got barraged by a rain of arrows. The English flipping the bird was telling the French that they still had theirs, and was a taunt. Sometimes they chopped off index and middle, sometimes it was just the middle.
