Take it from an American War veteran, those guys are Royal Marines, they can and will fight to the last man if necessary, not a coward among them🇬🇧👍

These guys are all trained Marines, they play instruments but will wield a gun just as well, you wouldn’t want to mess with these guys & gals

They are indeed soldiers and musicians but they are not Commando trained as with regular Royal Marines.

This is not the Beating the Retreat. This is the march TO the Beating the Retreat which takes place at the Horse Guards parade Ground in central London. the actual ceremony is on YT as a separate video.. The HM Royal Marines Band have their own channel which you should check out some of their concerts its not all military ,music and marching. and not all men either. Royal Marines are part of the Royal Navy and yes they are trained in warfare This is 5 bands together known as Massed Bands.

My grandpa did the drums when he was very young I once herd him when he had dementia and his mind went back into the past. I miss him. N it’s uniform not costume the uniforms up close are very detailed to the last stitch. N yes they do combat!

I live in the South West of England I won't say where and every day and most nights I can hear the men of the Royal Marines training both on a firing range by day and on a wildlife common literally i can walk to where they practise manoeuvres both day and night. Flares going up and sounds of both small arms fire and stun grenades heard most of the night. Then some return to barracks and continue with their constant band and parade practise to enable the performance you have seen today. These men and women are not just fighting warriors but in peacetime they form one of the most practised and magnificent musical bands in our forces. I have the privilege of calling some of them my friend.

The talent, discipline and precision! Wow! Awesome! In addition to music making, Royal Marines Musicians and Buglers are fully trained and operational military personnel and usually perform support duties such as medical support, driving ambulances and logistics

guys, you said they moving there legs together, its acutally simple how its done, it does take training, dont get me wrong, you have watched alot of the british milatary, and hear the shouts, By the left quick march, does not mean you start on the left leg, it means you follw the left person in the front row, if you have a square, the left corner of that square, is you timing, through the ranks, you may not be able to see the front left person, so where you stand in the ranks, you follow, not the guy in front, but the guy to left in front of you, which always is by the left, he follows the guy to left, and so on, some times you will hear by the cener quick march, which means the middel person front of the square parade, so you fillow the guy in front not to the left and so on through the rank, hope this helps, i served as a medic in the british army

@@starrlarh I did this as a kid in a marching band in the Boys Brigade in the UK, when I played the Cornet in our marching band and we marched also like this. It's just practice. My brother spent 24 years in the British army also

They are serving men, have a look at the medals they are wearing. Six lines of percussion, there were cymbals at the rear near the base drum, and they spin their tasselled beaters. They took that corner well. From Yorkshire

And women. The Band Service opened up to women quite a while ago, the Commandos only recently after a few women achieved their green beret on the All Arms Course.

My Dad was a Royal Marine & he reckoned the training was the most physically demanding of all the armed forces. The musicians are all fully trained Marines.

These RM are on their way to their Annual Beating Retreat Ceremony. If you haven’t yet seen it go watch a bit of this ceremony HM Royal Marines combined Bands playing Gladiator. It is quite something. Great reaction by the way … as always.

The Royal Marines Band has a minimum requirement for potential musicians to be able to play, at least, 2 instruments and to have composed music (that requirement gets you an interview but not a guarantee of joining the Royal Marines School of Music). If accepted the candidate will spend 2 years undertaking musical training and extensive basic military training plus drill. A third year takes them to their military skills as Nuclear, Biological and Chemical personnel and/or Medical Orderlies plus further military training and weapons.

You guys need to see Hans zimmer Gladiator HM Royal Marines Band that was at a Beating the Retreat, it will blow yr mind. This is just a march to Horseguards parade where it takes place.

All soldiers , sailors, and airforce are all trained and ready for battle. No one in the forces is just trained for the military bands.

Serving MARINES:- The Royal Marines are their own separate entity to British Army. The British Armed Forces are made up of ; Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army, and Royal Air Force.

They are NOT soldiers. They are His Majesty's Royal Marines and as such are an integral part of the Royal Navy. However, whilst they do receive military training so that they can take their place in times of conflict, they are not Royal Marines Commandos and therefore do not wear the Royal Marines Commando green beret.

the Royal marines are trained to fight as are all military bandsmen, however their main job in war is that of Stretcher bearers, or as my dad used to say, target practise for the germans. He was a bandsman in the Essex regiment from the early 1930's to the end of the war and as said he was a stretcher bearer during combat.

They have to be orchestra standard and play three instruments as far as I know The drummers are also brilliant with the bugle
