Jada, thank you for posting this!!! Sean is more than amazing!! This was an impromptu song that I needed recorded and he KILLED this. He always makes me sound great and we never practice! It’s so important to me as a singer to have a musical director that gets me and Sean is so masterfully intuitive about where I need to go with a song he makes it look easy!!

Praise Jesus and not praise someone's ability. He sounds just like everyone else in that genre. Nothing different here. Everyone trying to sound the same chords and licks instead of sounding like what Jesus has given them.
@JadaonPiano4 жыл бұрын
@March angel, I agree with you on praising Jesus. But I praise God FOR Sean's ability! There are many, including myself who can learn from material like that. I'm also glad you agree that he sounds like other people in the genre. That means he is stylistic on point for genre expectations. If he DIDN'T sound like this, then perhaps he would be playing a different genre altogether, but you were so right, that he sounds like the genre he intended to, and we were both able to correctly identify what genre he was trying to play. That is high level musicianship! It would be sad if he played like THIS at a rock concert, because that wouldn't be the genre needed, or conversely if they played like the rock concert at church. He played that way in that environment, and everyone isn't able, thats why they reach out to learn. Which goes to your next point. "Everyone trying to sound the same, chords and licks instead of sounding like what Jesus has given them". Although I am a musician and not a Bible teacher, one scripture I hold dear as a musician, is 2 Timothy 2:15. "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." I like this because it always motivates me to study hard enough that God approves me, not man. Not to take the shortcuts, but to learn something until God is pleased. I have taken that approach with learning the piano and theory as well, and that is what Jesus gave me to do. For others, they just want to learn some things to help them grow, and help their ear grow, and thats what this channel is about. Imitation is where EVERYONE starts their learning journey. This is a high level move and is harder than just playing block chords and requires a great deal of study and practice, even if you are given the notes like here in this video. People are right now studying to show themselves approved while learning from this! Lastly, I would greatly appreciate it, if you could give me an example of what it looks like to sound like what Jesus gave you. I went to your channel to see if I could find some examples of what that is, and saw some great videos of some praise music and then others, but in every video, they played music that sounded like others from the intended genre. I am fine with this, but I would like to see an example of what you are describing looks like. I study all kinds of things, and wouldn't mind learning how to craft the sound of what Jesus gives you, or even recognize it when he gives it, vs using the ability he gave me to figure out the things other people are doing, and then explain it as well. That is worth it to me as I always strive to study to show myself approved. Thanks for watching!
