Janay I know you know this, but I'm not sure you explained this to them very clearly, LOL. So I just wanted to add this comment in case the Hensons read the comments. :D Seventeen are known as self-produced idols because they do it all themselves. Which means, Woozi and members who are part of the the vocal unit write the songs, Hoshi and the members of the performance unit choreograph the dances and S. Coups and the members who are part of the hip-hop unit come up with the rap parts. And what makes it even more impressive is that this is a group of 13 guys who are only 23-19 years old. They do it all themselves and they are only in their early 20s. When they debuted 3 years ago most were still teenagers and they have been self-produced from the very beginning, So, that just goes to show you how much talent they all have. Seventeen became a group during a reality survival show kind of like American Idol. Each of the members competed to be the final 17 in the group and their prize was the chance to debut as a group. However, before they debuted 4 of their members dropped out and left the trainee program so Seventeen was now a 13 member group. Because the group was already known as Seventeen and they were already established under that name because of their following from the competition show, they decided to keep the name. So now how they explain their name is: They have 13 members + 3 sub-units (vocal team, dance team and hip-hop/rap team) + they are 1 group = 17. I recommend you show them "I Don't Wanna Cry" and "Thanks" by Seventeen. But if you watch the MVs you also should pair them with their dance practice for "I Don't Wanna Cry" and the choreography video for "Thanks." When it comes to Seventeen's MVs, you really need to pair them with their dance practice videos because what Seventeen are most known for is their amazing dances, which they create themselves, and most of the time the MVs just don't do the choreography justice. As you have seen Seventeen's choreography is very lyrical and they are known for hitting every beat of a song. As you have seen from a lot of the MVs you have watched so far, If you want to see the brilliance of the dances you really need to see their dance practice videos, and Seventeen is no exception. Seventeen's dancing is what really makes the performance next level.

Yes, give it up for the self producing idol kings of synchronicity!!! And to add to this I consider many of these young men geniuses at their craft. Even though this is KPOP, many of them especially Woozie come from a vocal background versed in old school R&B, Hip Hop and Funk. Mind you these are mostly young adults doing all this, And yes, there are a lot of other producers they work with especially Bumzu, who many consider the 14th member of Seventeen but still, they produce so much of their artistry to the point it can't be denied. Hoshi the choreographer of the group, the one with the stark red hair in the CLAP video can create and has created choreo out of any and everything. I knew Hoshi was a genius when I found out, that he does detailed sketches of his choreography. To be able to not only draw steps but their movements, is something many, if any don't do these days. Not to mention, that he has to map out where to place the vocalist and rappers in the midst of a performance. It takes a lot of planning and practice just to figure that out. And if that doesn't convince you suggest you watch them do the one line synchronized challenge on the episode 36 of Idol Room. These young men are amazing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/qYu4oqCooLKDh8U Now, don't get it twisted, they are not the first group to self produce their own work and they won't be the last. But everyone in this group became part of a well oiled machine that makes them a great creative group, today. And I feel only these 13 men could've been made to really make this team work.

You are spreading wrong information about Seventeen. Seventeen become self-producing idols because not they do it all themselves but they are deeply involve in their music and performances. When they debut no idol group are making all their content from debut where they are deeply involved and proud about it and no company allows it also. Most self compose songs idols can release are b-sides and if they release a title track it took them years after debut before they were allowed to. They still have producers and choreographers they work with but 80% of all of their work are theirs. As of now all Seventeen members have credit to their names in lyric writing, composing or choreography. Woozi just this year become a member of Korea's copyrights association that have strict requirements and SVT just turning 4 years old this May and he just turned 22. Seventeen didn't come from a survival show. Seventeen were formed mostly through street casting means they didn't auditioned just invited to join to their company while scouts saw them in public which is 10/13. They were trained and together and meant to debut as a group. They had a streaming show for 3 years before and a final reality show before they debut that like a survival show . Their streaming show 17tv is like cctv videos that are raw and unscripted showing them do missions, play games and train while their final reality show 17 project that gave them missions or else they can't debut. They became self-producing because their company can't afford to hire professional composers and choreographers and need to cut cost thus their debut being pushed back. Seventeen suggested to try using their songs they make to save expenses for Woozi already learned to compose and Hoshi choreographs for them. The boys already writing lyrics, arranging songs and does the concepts of their missions during trainees days even making scripts for the activties they show to their fans. They debut under a company that is under financial difficulties. Their company neglected them and undecided what kind of group they will make out of SVT until their ceo see the potential of their suggestion and see them do their work by themselves. They debut as self-producing idols out of desperation to debut and showing what they can do. Those who left are trainees only not Seventeen members unitl their ring ceremony the line up for SVT was not decided so all members are in the edge. The reasons these tariness left are combination of personal and company conflict that some have no confirmations yet and just rumors. Please be careful on what you comment about.
