When you rave about all the detail on the Vasa ship, consider that it was lying on the bottom of the sea for 333 years, half buried in the mud. All that sculpted wood was originally painted in vivid colors!

i got married in the city hall (stockholms stadshus)...twice...but 15 years apart..the room where they have marriage ceremonies is like a palace with a lot of gold and mirrors and chandeliers...each marriage ceremony takes about 3 minutes...and couples are waiting their turn in a womderful hall and staorcase...

3:20 It was no fire storm, it's only that wooden buildings are susceptible to fires. However, it was already in the 1600s that wood became more or less forbidden (not in the 1800s). And even before that, buildings in what was then central town were mostly in stone material, only a bit further out were there wooden buildings.

Well it was an empirical brag project, built to be a sailing propaganda, but the king Gustavus Adolfus did meddle in the construction process to make it grander, so it became too high and too narrow so it sank on its Maiden voyage. It was litteraly the Kings fault that it sank.

The Royal Palace in Stockholm is actually not the residence of the king! He and his family live in Drottningholm Castle. The palace is just a workplace.

@6:45 The "boat" with the mouth painted on it, is actually an amphibious sightseeing bus. The tour starts and ends on the streets, with a little "splash" through the water on the way. The trope of using an amphipious bus for sightseeing is not unique to Stockholm, though as we do have a lot of water, it kinda make sense somehow.

I advice you to also pay a visit to the Swedish countryside. It is quite lovely and becomes more of a wilderness the further north you go. If you instead go west from Stockholm, and end up in my childhood home county of Värmland (pronounced Vairm-land), you come into possibly the most forested populated region in the country. The forest is present even in the towns - I would be very surprised if there is one place in any of those towns where you can go one kilometer in any direction without coming into a forest. Nature is close and everpresent, as you can imagine 🙂

I agree that Stockholm is one of the most beautiful cities in the world (given, off course that you like that particular style - and preferens vary). BUT, I must say many of the footage of Stockholm shown in that particular "tourist guide" are quite rubbish, and doesn't really show the best views/ angles of stockholm; looks like a Sloppy, quick job of concatenated spontaneous smartphone clips, really and not very though through. But even with that, one can get the idea and can imagine how coozy it is...but know there is a LOT more...!
