The song (IMO) is a send-up of the "tortured artist" and the "preening wannabe rock star", with a touch of personal experience for flavoring. And a healthy middle finger to all those 90s "grunge" bands that commodified/commercialized childhood trauma (such as Pearl Jam). Plus one of the best piano solos in human history, just for bonus points. A true 10/10 comedic song.

Tim is an expert at piano, satirizing, and parody. He's got a great voice, too. To be fair to 90s "grunge" bands (some of whom I still love), there are very few bands/singers that don't commodify trauma of some kind - including childhood trauma. Tim was wise in commodifying while using his middle finger at the same time - lol. 🙂

Such an epic performance, this is the awesome version so well picked! I love the light/dark of this song and how the dark worsens as the song progresses. Of course it's an act. The tormented daddy issue of whom may or may not be only sleeping, is my favourite. On past reactions people ask why the audience are laughing at him in pain...the whole set up is he can act dark if you want me to...also in Rock'n'roll nerd he explains his happy, upper middle class upbringing!!! Of course his piano is just epic and awesome..should be the epic awesome version 😂. Tim has released a serious album and has some serious songs on past releases. White Wine in the Sun is a sentimental Christmas song which shows a very sensitive Tim with just a sprinkle of humour. And Aeroplane is just a beautiful song!

Tim’s so talented, he’s a smart, creative fellow carving out a real niche for himself by being himself bare feet and all. Your are right, bare feet and thongs / flip flops are the off work dress code here in the Northern States of Aussie, when the earths too hot you need thongs otherwise bare feet work just fine.
