Ukraine withdrew back in 2019 because of a few things. The winner, Maruv, was already a controversial one because she actively performed and held concerts in Russia. Their broadcaster tried to get her to sign a contract requiring her to cancel said concerts among other things which she declined. The other contestants of the selection also declined to take her place, and by then, there simply wasnt enough time to find someone new to represent Ukraine with.

Ukraine withdrew in 2019 because politics with Russia. Also, regarding wins in recent years, Sweden won 3 times in last 12 years(2023, 2015, 2012) and 4 times in last 25 years (1999).

@@PaulKalak Moldova is CRIMINALLY underrated. 2005, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2017, 2018, 2021 & 2022 are my favorites. I don’t think I’ve got that many favorites by any other country 😭

They won 3 times in 20 years but while Ruslana was absolutely the best song of the competition that year, the 2022 one was very much a sympathy vote from the televoters.

@@omega1231 the song wasn't even good, which is why it was on the second half of the table after the judges round, it was nowhere near a top 3 song.
