I think he was harsh towards the beginning to prepare them mentally for the criticism they would have to endure down the line. You realize though how talented they all were though considering hikaru is there from kep1er and she was chosen to go on girls planet and went into that ranked exceptionally high against already debuted idols it’s crazy

It's good to see the harsh idol trainee life with a documentary series like this. You never see this done by other companies besides yg showed baby monster part but not as detailed like XG

When you understand the bigger vision of XGALX and AVEX for their artists, the training days totally make sense. This is huge investment, long term vision, global market to conquer, and XG is a core part of it. Note XG is one important portion, and there are other aspects of the company that will expand globally, so XG has a very strong and heavy pressure behind them. And XGALX Team and Simon were so good at what they are doing. I guess with those training days, XG also understands their role, ambition and responsibility to themselves as part of xgalx and avex.

6:40 I presume Simon scouted in Japan over Korea, because culture is more influenced toward R&B / hip-hop scene there since he's wanting to create 90's Y2K style team. Y2K & R&B doesn't sound pushed onto them by a previous generation, and I think he made the right call and found exactly what he was looking for!

You should have watched Episode 00 before this episode. You'll know Simon is Japanese Korean and was also an idol so he knows a lot about training to become an idol. Episode 00 is the introduction to this Xtra Xtra docuseries.

Parts of this are hard to watch but i 100% get what Simon is doing. The music industry and the idol scene are ruthless and toxic. Simon knows this being a formal idol himself. He is preparing them for that journey that the girls themselves are choosing to partake in. If one or two of XG falls, then they all fall. It's good he is mentally preparing them and also seeing who will be able to mentally handle everything on their journey. They are so much stronger for it. I know it must help them with the hate they receive in Korea for sure. It just makes you love and appreciate XG even more

He does not explain why he went to Japan 😂😂..for those who don't know Simon before becoming an idol was an AVEX artist academy student just like the girls. After his group disbanded he revert it back to avex and went to uni in Japan. It seems like he went to avex when he had his vision.
