How don't you people get that Travis is NOT WR1? He's not the number one target. He just gets first downs at a 96% clip. The reason that he won the Heisman is because he's a decoy but catches passes and TD when needed. He can relay what the defense is doing while he's on offense. He blocks for runs and passes. He takes away a 3rd of the field, takes away the ball IF they try him, or it's near him! How can a player be so terrible with an 86+ on offense and a 90 coverage grade? So, according to you, Jeanty didn't deserve the Heisman because he fell short of the great Barry Sanders? So no RB should ever win the Heisman unless they pass Sanders 11 game rushing total? You do realize that Jeanty had the same amount of carries in 13 games that Sanders had in 11? And yet people say Boise was force feeding Jeanty. But no one says anything about Sanders being force fed when he had the sames amount of carries in 2 less games.
@deloresmatt864310 күн бұрын
Uh, no that wasn’t the point. Every kid on the stage deserved the Heisman Trophy. The point that pundits argued was because Jeanty was so close to Barry Sanders record he should have won was being put into perspective. That perspective was that he didn’t break his record even with extra games to do so yadda, yadda… it never ceases to amaze me how people see and hear what they want to.
@wd407510 күн бұрын
@deloresmatt8643 Exactly! lolol So unless a RB beats the record in 11 games, they are not deserving of the Heisman. Stupid argument. Especially since Hunter was 900 yards short of the most receiving yards ever, 13 TDs short of the most rec TDs ever, and 10 interceptions short of the most interceptions ever. But Jeanty gotta beat the greatest of all time at his position fair and square to be worthy. Makes sense
@deloresmatt864310 күн бұрын
@ As usual the point is being obfuscated. The point being made was that the reasoning for Jeanty’s win was that he almost broke Sander’s record…did not stack up to Hunter’s accomplishments. Hunter didn’t win because he was close to records. He won because of his top five rating on both offense and defense. You people just like to argue, that’s okay but stop deflecting deal with what’s what.
@wd407510 күн бұрын
@deloresmatt8643 So, on an all-time level, Jeantys numbers have been elite at RB and Hunters have been decent at WR and DB. Boise has a first round bye and Colorado, with a soft conference schedule, doesn't make the conference final. The math doesn't add up. Travis had 5 games where his receiving yards averaged 57 yards per game and only had 2 TDs in those 5 games. If jeanty had 5 games under 100 yards and went 3 games with no TDs, he would have been roasted by everyone

Ppl arguing against the dominance & phenomenon of Travis playing every snap both ways & moving the goalposts after we all concluded it was impossible & illogical is 1 of the greater examples of haters' obstinance & ignorance. Your summary 4 what he's accomplished is obvious & inarguable, but ppl are avoiding the obvious in favor of narratives based on wishful thinking. I love how you've explained journalism & highlighted the art & integrity that should be behind it. That approach is invaluable & sounds like even a step above the often preferred athlete.

A part of me feels like Hunter begged his way to the Heisman. Desmond Howard struck the Heisman pose one time, and one time only. It was after a punt return TD in 'The Game.' Hunter was out there striking the Heisman pose against the likes of Kansas and Utah. He swagger jacked Desmond for Utah? Kansas? He might have won my Cornball Of the Year award last night too.

I just hope during the Colorado bowl game, opposing team players 'keep the play clean' and not look to maliciously injure Travis with 'Dirty Play Tactics'. That is my only concern with the mixed emotions of him (Travis) winning the Heisman Trophy some people have.

Devonte Smith won the Heisman with 1700 yrd -98 Rec- 17 TDs Travis had 1152 rds- 92 and 14 TDs doing double on both sides of the ball. NO player in the one hundred year history of Colledge football has achieved what he has. It's not rocket science to see he could have easliy eclipsed those numbers if he only played receiver.
