I don't know how they can make a plot around this phenomena, there isn't anything beyond the sobbing lament of a woman, picked up first by dogs, and that if you see her ghost image she's completely silent, her lament is being at a distance. It is completely real. I'm of the physical world however, like the saying in Spanish goes, "Birds to the air, fishes to the water Etc.
