during this point he was still in the speedforce but just drawing power to jump in and out for short bursts, which is why he was so fast, similiar to barry being in the speedforce for 6 months then coming out to be 6x faster. but then that massive boost of speed slowly fades from lack of exposure to the speedforce energy.

tbh they planned this from Day one and it was brilliant. Season 3 is underrated. Even when he was revelead people were strugglin to believe it. When barry sits on the couch and got all that backflashes and starts to combine the facts all that reaction yters were on that thin line to notice or not. Fantastic work from the showrunner. sadly his last time to shine except a few episodes (4x15 Enter Flashtime was nuts and is in my Top 3 of all time just after 1x15 and 1x23) in S 4 and S 5. Now we got a real Genius that runs the Show but i'm sure he will need some time to grow into this. (The old one was a die hard Flash Fan since he was a child. the new one wasn't) I think 2 part of the season he will going all out for that crisis stuff. And while it's kinda obvious that Flash will not end after Season 6 even it's not confirmed- Season 7 will be nuts.
