The LIFAD album was indexed/censored in Germany partly because of this song. The album was therefore not allowed to be advertised and sold openly in retail outlets. Despite this, Rammstein were the first and only band ever to reach number 1 in the charts.

You should probably mention that this is over now and everything's back to normal. The song is no longer on the index and the album may be sold with all 11 songs as well. They re-evaluated the song again some time later and realized that their decision was stupid, basically.

Till mentioned in an interview some years ago this song's inspiration was the novel "American Psycho", especially the "inserting rodents into you" scene with the prostitute. Till's channeling Patrick Bateman, the unreliable narrator, in the lyrics.

The forked/snake tongue is just CGI it's not real... yeah Till is crazy but he's not that crazy or dumb enough to get that done to his tongue plus it would affect his speech and singing voice ❤❤

Paul told in an interview, when Till had his cheek piercing and they had drinks in the evening, Till pulled the cork out of his cheek and let the drink splash out of the hole and had fun like hell. But he couldn't keep it cause the wound didn't heal.

It's a wonderful duality for me...I know "some" German words or what the theme of the songs are but I honestly DGAF...this band has done more for me and it's fans...Blows me away they aren't on a Zeppelin, Metallica,Foo Fighters level here in the states...loved the reaction...our Till...at it once again!!

Yeah, Till used to have a piercing in his cheek that he would run the cable to light up his mouth but it ended up getting infected, so now he just has it going from the side of his mouth to light it up

How is it that people don't realize as we age, our bodies also are aging. It's like this, what you did easily when you were 30, 40, gets harder by 50, and at 60, well, he's doing as much as he can, as best he can. I am going to be 55 and was hit with chronic pain at 46. It can be a struggle to do what used to be oh so easy a year or a decade ago. Only Ollie is younger than me at 53, but Richard, Doom, Flake, and Paul are 57 and 58, so they too can't keep up like they did. I am sure everyone noticed that Richard and Till gained a few pounds during the pandemic. They all probably have a lot of creak/stiff bones. The video for Zick Zack it is sort of an indication of what it is like for a rock star to age. Your hairline recedes, your muscles aren't as toned as they were, your skin starts to sag/wrinkle, and more! It's the band's telling us that they won't be like the Rolling Stones and still be touring in their mid-late 70's or doing a Farewell world tour like so many have done.

As usual many interpretations of the song are possible. However at some point Till says he's singing all this while standing in front of a mirror. He's actually torturing...himself!

The live version is way better. Please react to one of their earlier songs - it was my favorite till Zeit was released. The song is named Klavier but there is no video version of it only some live recordings.

D, these days I really don't have much energy to do anything, but I will say that Till could be singing about addiction, self-harm, and those type of things. And coincidence, I'm in that place right now, haha. "You're the ship, I'm the captain" yeah, when you're literally being controlled my your vices, you truly feel like a passanger. And again, as always, the lyrics, the performance, Till's madness, is just electric, just like the video😂. And, as always, top-notch reaction!❤

When he sings "Ich seh’ im Spiegel dein Gesicht" " I see your face in the mirror" hints that the person he’s singing about is actually himself. Maybe this song isn’t about a sadomasochistic relationship, but is rather about self-harm.

This song was forbidden to broadcast in Germany. The album was sold Initially with a document that you are an adult .The band fought against it and won….

No, the tongue's not real or he'd have a hard time annunciating. Jonas Ackerlund, the director, just really, REALLY liked that effect. It's in several of the videos he directed.

This song is about the pain of self-harm.Cutting or carving yourself is a liberating feeling for some. With this feeling, at some point you are no longer in control of your situation and the pain becomes the captain.

The tongue isn't real, just Jonas Åkerlund going crazy with the CGI as usual. He put that snake tongue on Till in every Rammstein video he directed 🙄 The song is good, though it's not one of my favourites. But the video - in my opinion it's one of their worst 😅
