Also: I think I read somewhere that their inspiration for this song was the book ‘Perfume: The Story of a Murderer’ but I want confirmation on that one, ‘cuz it could be wrong. 😅

This was great D, I hadn't seen this particular version of this song on video yet. This would have been, and still is, a massive song for them, since it was their first single. Probably meant even more then as they just had the 2 albums out at the time. Now huge songs off the Sehnsucht album like Du Hast and Engel had only been out a year vs 4 years of Du Riechst So Gut. They used it as the closer for 100 Jahre

But if you see a combination of -ei-, it's pronounced like "ay" like the word "bye bye", so the phonetic transcription of the title would be something like: "Du rihst zo gúd" (one s is pronounced like z) Just lookin out for you, brother👊

"ch" is pronounced similar to a hiss, like a cat. I can't explain it any other way. “riechst” - “ch”. "riechst" is very difficult to pronounce for someone who doesn't speak German.

This is a good version. The best live version of this song I would say is from the legendary "Volkerball", everything on point there. The Paris version,which Bucksttabu also has up, is good too. I have up the 100 Jahre version from 1996, which is a completely different kind of performance 😅 The problem with the Hellfest version, is it's a festival camera crew shooting Rammstein for TV or whatever and not Rammstein's camera crew shooting Rammstein. So they miss a lot of the shots as they don't know the routine to highlight the right stuff. Probably the worst version

Volkerball? Maybe Instrumental. But tills voice was damaged during the tour 2004-2005. Tills voice in the 90s was his prime. Deep, strong and powerful.
