"Monsieur Tout-le-monde" is an expression, the french equivalent of "John Doe"

It depends, in rural areas, many people hunt and have hunted for generations. Those have rifles, and "in the attic" probably because it belonged to the father or grandfather and he didn't have a licence himself.

There are quite a few weapons circulating in France, registered ones: hunters, sports shooters, and undeclared ones: many in the countryside have inherited weapons from their ancestors, whether hunters or not (first and second world war...), and these are often the ones who are in the attics. For several decades, we have also found weapons of war used mainly in cities for drug trafficking and this is a serious problem in France, Marseille is an example of this with regular settling of scores sometimes with collateral damage.

In France it's more old guns from grandpa who fighted old wars or registered rifles for hunting in rural areas, or pistols in citys from "hooligans" to say things nicely and yes most of the time it's just eating dust in the attic

This one hits right in the heart. And yes, there are a lot of weapons in France. Except we can't buy them without heavy checks, psychological tests etc.

In France, unlike in the United States, not everyone has a gun. Because a permit to carry a weapon is required for categories A to C. Only category D weapons such as paint balls and historical weapons can be held freely. More generally, it remains the hunters who have pellet guns.

😂 it is allowed to have a rifle in France, you just need to have a licence with background check, and know how to use and store it. There are a lot of hunters in France countryside for example.

Oh yes, no more than 4 or 5 glasses of beer before hunting, and 5 or 6 bottles each time you hit something. Double if it's your dog. Three time more if it's a walker.

A lot of people have old timey hunting rifles in their cellar or attic, especially in the countryside. The difference with the US is that they are way more rare and automatic/semi-automatic rifles are exceedingly rare here (and nearly impossible to buy), most people who have those are retired "gendarmes" (police but part of the military instead of regular civilian police).

in france the law of guns is hard but yes some peoples have them mostly hunting riffke because hunting exist in france! but there is laws i don't know them that much because i'm not a hunter the only ones i know is that you can't keep a gun with it's bullet close by and that the gun need to be locked in a case! i too know of what i will call a gun holding weapon license called " port-d'arme" i think only the cops and militaries have it) but not sure! What i know is that for exemple for a martial artist like me ( in the past) my own fist was seen as a melee weapon by the law!

Unfortunately, it's often like that, neighbors without problems but we later discover the other side of the story and it often turns into a drama

And my theory, dear uncle D, is that Earth is neither Paradise (but it could be, depends on you) nor Hell (but it could be, depends on you) : Earth is mostly Purgatory. Hell is numbers (...as the allegory of the number of the Beast tries to tell us), so Hell is counting (whatever we count, especially prices or humans...) and fears due to these "numbers" that creates artifical dominations, ...and in a very modern word , Hell could be : considering "capitalisms" as "real truth" and "natural ordrer". On another way, Heaven is one only thing : love, love and love (...or the other word for love : "no-fear"). No numbers on Lives always leave the possibility of Love to be created (by us) and let it grow beyond any limits we thought real and insurmountable... Anyway, what a whole philosophy for a simple reaction to a song! Thanks uncle D. for showing to French people that some americans are able to have such reflexions (in France we often imagine the average american as a sort of mix between Trump, Musk and a pile of guns'n bullets). Take care of each others everyone!

Salut. On a presque tous un ou plusieurs armes à feu dans nos foyers. Entre les armes de loisirs ou de chasse en plus du fusil du papy. C'est comme ça en campagne.
