Parikrama = Tawaf (Tawaf of Kaaba, 7 circles of Kaaba) We do this 3 times at Shiva temples during Pradosham which occurs twice a month and this kind of doing 3 circles anticlockwise is called as "Soma-Soothra-Pradhakshinam". Even Today this custom is followed reverentially (Not Compulsory at all in Sanatana Dharm) in every temple of Shiva in Tamil Nadu. I do it.

Parikrama means to walk around it and complete it by ending at the start. And doing 108 parikrama can provide you salvation/moksha from the cycle of life and death. This peak was chosen by Lord Shiva because it wasn't easy to climb and also because it's said to be the centre point of the earth so that he can monitor the entire world from that spot. The water from mansarovar is said to cure diseases and relieve you of any fear. But the water from the adjoining lake is poisonous. The light falling on the peak is "Divya" meaning divine.

This is also called Axis mundi,where all 10 sides come to meet.spending one week on Mount Kailash is equal to about 2 months and some days as per our time, compass doesn't work here because of meetings all directions at the same point.That's why no plane is flown nearby Mount Kailash. Lord Shiva is formless supreme being who is present in everything including you or me. And every single god or goddess is same but in different forms. Shivlinga represents Jyotirlinga meaning energy and tavta meaning matter and since both energy and matter are interchangeable so everything is made of same thing. That's why Hinduism says everything is one and Oneness is God. Lord Shiva came in sankara form to marry sati/parvati maa. It used to be the abode of lord Shiva Sankara form.
