This music video touches on so many important topics; it hits sexual assault, mass shootings, religious trauma, different reactions, and, of course, PTSD. I found that song a while ago and I've never fully gotten over the cinematography, it is so powerful. I hope that he is able to find help for his trauma and heal and find peace. No one deserves any of that.

I dont know this type of PTSD, but i know war PTSD well. In public i have such a heightened level of awareness that disctracts me from reality. You mentioned sitting in specific ways, and that one is so real. I HAVE to sit on the outside of any booth or aisle or i feel trapped. Escape is the most important thought.

I thought I was the only one…… I spent 12 years in the armed forces ed and when I left I found I always had to have an escape route planned and had to be able to see the entrance / doorway and the people entering and exiting….. my family called me paranoid and I always wondered why I couldn’t relax in public places.

Totally made me cry 😢 I had EMDR therapy when I was 11 and Im so grateful I just think how bad it could have been. Being affected by serious sexual assult as a child will always be somewhere inside you.

I was shot and had 37 bone broken my throat was cut and I was left for dead. There are department stores that smell similar to that day and I can't even walk near them. Therapy emdr and years of hard therapy work and I still can't let go of some things. It brings me back instantly like it happened just now from the smallest things. Sound, weather, the way the sun shines into a room the smallest minute thing will snap you right back. My husband is a war veteran so I always thought my PTSD could never be as bad as his or that it meant mine should not mean as much bc I wasn't in a war zone. But it does mean just as much I was at war I was war to live. I love your reactions, and your message because without therapy I probably wouldn't be here.

I got diagnosed with ptsd last year and I had trauma when I was 5. I was raped when I was 5. Last year was rough because I had a meniscus tear and I knew it was from my trauma. I’m trying to heal. I want help so I can be a mother again. My son is adopted and I miss him dearly. It was a battle from 2016-2019

I was a volunteer firefighter EMT and I can still hear my friends in that structure fire I can't get the screams out of my head I was held down to keep me from going in to go in I was told if I went in I'd die to because it was to hot at 2000 degrees but I can hear those guys my brothers crying for help there's nothing I could do

Great video! I was trying to get EDMR therapy some last year. Everyplace I talked to said I was too much for them at the moment and just said I needed to be put in rehab immediately. I found one place that offered to fly me out for help, I was iffy on it. Talked to my parents about it and they told me that if anything was wrong with me they would have seen it. So now my boyfriend is kind of trying to help get past everything.

As a person who's experienced PTSD myself this video was very real. Very raw. Very much something people can connect with I enjoyed it a lot. Maybe a better venue to ask somewhere else I'm not sure, but I've seen such wonderful reactions to different people and their music therapy with you, Tom, is there another word you would use for a person who said they felt the term "Victim" was not accurate for their personality, that they refused to be a victim to anyone else and even if it was true they'd gone through some sort of traumatizing event because of someone else, it wouldn't make them a "victim" how could you respect that and use a term that wouldn't make them feel you were suggesting weakness?

I'd heard of PTSD and never really "got it". I didn't understand it and I didn't want to think bad of people, but honestly I felt it was just an excuse people made to avoid dealing with their issues. Well if you haven't guessed it from this post i have radical change my opinion. In July of 2022 I was involved in a single car rollover accident high in the mountains of Colorado. When I came to, my truck was on the driver's side. everything was silent, like eerily silent. I did a quick self assessment and knew I needed to get out and try and find help. I kicked out the windshield and crawled out to the road. And about that time God sent a couple through who stopped and helped me. No cell service, but they were able to drive me the 3 miles back to my Camp where my friends were and they took me down the mountain to the emergency room. I ended up with a compression fracture of T8, but worse has been the TBI and subsequent PTSD. i have improved with time, but a few weeks ago i was the passenger in a car that but by the grace of God didn't hit us and killed me. When I heard and felt those brakes lock up, and I felt the car start sliding sideways I was thrown right back into the middle of it. We didn't hit, but I heard glass breaking and metal crumpling. The airbags didn't deploy but i smelled and tasted the fumes of explosive and aerosolized engine fluids. Time obviously didn't change, but time change to almost a total standstill. No one was physically harmed, but I realized I'm not as "Over" this as i thought.

People do horrible things and horrible accidents but that is sometimes what needs to happen to propel others to make change. Like the boy in the 80s that had a blood transfusion and it's was tainted with hiv which he then got. I think his name was Ryan and nobody really helped. I can't remember if they didn't believe that was how he got it or what but as horrible as it was for the parents to loose a young child they started a foundation for other people with hiv and even though the boy died from his death thousands have received help and had their lives saved and extended. We can't always see the bigger picture cause as humans we can't understand what God does but all we can do is trust in his plan

Just fyi. Ptsd is not cured. Anyone with real PTSD can only cling to things that "booster shots" the pain. We gravitate to things that make us relive the situation and the cry that follows helps get it out. Look me up, I'm a grown ass man that couldn't care less about who says what.
