There is something to be said about Boromir- he fails. He knows he is weak. He knows he's not THE man, but he gives his life to protect Merry and Pippin anyway- in the end, isn't that ALL of us? Not perfect, not above faults, but with the potential to rise above these and do the right thing even if it costs our own life... there's something inherently masculine about that, i think...

Even the toughest among us find it difficult not to cry at this scene, regardless of whether they made it through the others. We all have a place in our heart where we recognise goodness. This scene captures one of the main themes of the entire trilogy. A good heart, and the strength to be led by it may just be what matters most. In the end, it is hobbits that make the difference, despite inhabiting a world of men, elves, orcs and wizards. Nobody uses authority to convince you of Pythagoras' theorem. You see it for yourself. This scene resonates so, because your heart recognises the rightness of what is happening. This is the ultimate vindication of decency.

Genuinely think this scene is very telling for human nature. We all have felt small at one point. Weak and tiny in a big world that you don't know how to navigate. Many do not realize just how significant this was. A King is not the chosen representative of a country, he the embodied soveriegnity of his country (Ruling Queens as well). If it had been President Aragorn making that gesture it would been a powerfull gesture from the leader of a country. From King Aragorn it's a powerfull honor bestowed by the Kindom. When a president bows, a leader bows, when a King bows a whole Kindom bows. As powerfull as this scene is, knowing that takes it up a notch to me. "My friends you bow to no one". A kings decree binds every noble. And high is place of honor he places these hobbits in.

This story has so many relevant morales all good people should have! Not to mention fighting evil within our selves. Or simply fighting through the dark nights. I’m so glad I grew up watching lord of the rings , even though I was bullied for watching it and I tried to get my friends to watch but put me down alot because I watched it which really hurt my feelings. But I’m glad over the years I haven’t forgotten these morales especially losing my father to suicide, all I had was hope. Never give in to evil people , because the good is worth fighting for!

My favourite was 'Cinema Gek' - the girls were obviously emotionally involved, the boys trying to show they weren't....

He had to see his wife go to the Grey Havens before him because she needed to go to heal her mind, body & spirit after a tragic event involving Orcs, he knows his daughter & sons are staying in Middle Earth to eventually die & he has to carry this news to his wife who's just really begun to heal...yeah no surprise he's trying not to break down

Hugo Weaving pulled off the “proud and happy for his daughter but also sad to see her leave” face *perfectly*.

I always laugh because i imagine Frodo looking around like “ i uhh….really wish i had kept that ring but this is still good i guess”

Actually, my understanding is that Frodo did not feel that he succeeded in his quest, did not deserve the acclaim, because the Ring did not go into the Fire by his own hand.

@@richardbernier6761 probably. It's also a prophecy fulfilled since Galadriel said that the quest would take Frodo's life. Not in the sense that we know of, but that he'd go home a changed person, riddled with guilt at the fact that had Sam (and Gollum to an extent) not been with him at that moment, he would've condemn Middle-Earth to another age in fear of Sauron.

Great reactions! Though I’m always baffled how many people watch this movie as adults for the first time

One of the last classic movies. Back when you just enjoyed the beauty of the story and the characters. Back when nobody will get mad because there were no black,Asian, or Latinos in the damn movie. Hollyweird destroyed that for all of us that only cared about watching a good movie and story.
