To me, Stupid Love is the darker version of applause. In applause she’s living for the fame and the “applause” but here she calls it stupid love. when Chromatica dropped, I listened to it 3 times in a row, one with my family; one scrolling through Twitter and the last one alone in my bed. I couldn't help but cry so hard, especially to Sine From Above... that song touches my soul in a different way. I love that song because I think kinda does a summary of what Chromatica actually means. If you are interested, I suggest you to watch the interview for Zane Lowe. She explains Chromatica so well. As you assumed, this album is a mental health album, but unlike Joanne, Gaga tried to dance her pain out (like, just listen to Rain on Me). Also, I think the reason you feel like Gaga sometimes talks to another person is because she's actually talking to herself. She revealed she takes antipsychotics (911) and, as we already knew, has post traumatic stress (Replay) and some other mental issues. She's been trying to make sense of what 'being Gaga' means to her, why she used to dress so scandalous and fearless. Grllllll, you should really watch that interview. Thank you for this video!
