Tai Lung is honestly my favorite villain of the trilogy and certainly with the greatest potential for a redemption arc. Notice that when Tai Lung sees his reflection in the scroll he says, “it’s *nothing*,” which is a literal direct reflection of how he sees himself. Po says “it’s blank,” indicating that he sees the potential in himself.
@almas4663 Жыл бұрын
I just LOVE how in his final fight with Tai Lung, Po uses all the tricks he learned throughout the movie... He bounces back at Tai Lung after Tai Lung delivers the first blow, just like Po's training dummy hit him back. He falls of the stairs, managing to land on top of Tai Lung. He uses his weight to hold up a tree before hitting Tai Lung with, like when he himself got hit with bamboo. He uses "chopsticks" to trick Tai Lung with the scroll. He uses noodles to snatch the scroll from him. He uses fireworks to catch up to him. He uses food motivation with cookies to clime to the scroll. He uses his fat foreshadowed with acupuncture.

Overlooked part of Po: He's a REALLY good student. When he applies himself to something, he picks it up very quickly - that's why both his noodles and his fighting are so good. AND it's also why he was able to teach himself the Wuxi Finger Hold.

I read a comment on another reaction that adds to this and how the Wuxi Finger Hold actually ties into the whole theme of the movie aswell. So the director said that the finger hold isnt actually real, but something masters use to scare their students with. The theory is (and i say theory 'cause i cant remember if its confirmed) that Po made the Wuxi Finger Hold real simply by believing in it. There are so many different layered meanings and callbacks in this film that when watching it again make you feel like you're experiencing something completely new. Two of my personal favorites are: Oogway's "I don't know" callback when Shifu is pressured by Po to answer how he'll teach him. In many ways Shifu is taking on Oogway's role even accepting that he doesn't know everything (the illusion of control) Second was when Po and Tai Lung look at the scroll, it's a reflection of themselves (both figuratively and literally). Po first sees the scroll and is immediately scared symbolizing the fear he feels in taking up the mantle of the Dragon Warrior. Tai Lung's first reaction to the scroll is "It's nothing!?" symbolizing how much he wasted trying to reach an impossible goal.

2 months late but those "swords" as you referred to them were actually more like acupuncture needles meant to keep tai lung immobilized. And you might consider it (as well as the boulders on the ends of the chains) a kind of torture, but also consider this; the stronger soneone/something is, the more drastic measures that might be needed to contain them/it. And considering how strong tai lung is, he mightve considered those less of a torture and more of an inconvenience.

This movie is one of those rare ones that stands up to the test of time. It was beautifully crafted, and they couldn't have done better than Jack Black to voice Po. And I love HOW Po was able to defeat Ty Lung. They made hints throughout the movie too. Ty Lung said he was a warrior like the world had never seen. Shifu said he couldn't train him like the others. Po learned Kung Fu in an entirely new way. One that Ty Lung was unfamiliar with. Ty Lung knew every scroll, every lesson and style. So he knew every attack, every counter and defense. But not Po's style. He was a complete unknown, so his training and skill was not, anywhere, near as good as he would be against a conventional fighter. There is a saying, "The greatest swordsman does not fear the second greatest. He fears the worst." Because the worst won't fight in a predictable or even logical way, that the greatest is used to. Reflexes will be wrong. That was Po's advantage in this fight. That and fat isa REALLY good protection to blunt force attacks. You'll bruise easier and it'll hurt more, but your bones and internal organs will take less damage.

Yeah, Po's physical resilience combined with his mental tenacity -- both of which were demonstrated from the very beginning -- created his greatest advantage.

He did just say "well done students, if you're trying to disappoint" (welcome to my world of being asian XD) Shifu basically did a 'qi' technique in gongfu (kungfu) martial arts, its similar to 'bending' air you could say where you send a force of air and/or qi energy from your body. In some fantasy kungfu, its basically like using the Force from Star Wars to Force Push someone. 22:50 Ugui the tortoise, used a 'martial art' technique which involves striking specific nerve points which can either paralyze or put someone in an unconscious state due to the 'blocking of qi' points.

🐼👍 Dreamworks CGI cartoons are generally even more loaded with celebrity vocal talent than Disney/Pixar's. This is the case with both their franchises ("Kung Fu Panda," "Shrek" "Madagascar" etc) and their one-offs ("Monsters Vs. Aliens," "Over The Hedge," "Flushed Away" etc). In general you can't go wrong watching any CGI animation features, although some releases are clearly a cut above the others.

Top 10 smiles to have ever existed. Seriously, you have a super power. Istant stress releif. Instant feelings of happiness coming out if seemingly nowhere. Your smile is like watching a triangle peg go into a triangle hole or watching someone walk in the door, fling their hat 30 ft across the room to perfectly land on a hat rack, swing around a few times, and confidently land in its intended place. (Edit: seeing -> swing)

@@reactswithjax yeah of course. I was debating on further explanation without making it weird but screw it. It's not just your smile, but your genuine emotions. Longer ago than I remember I began guarding my emotions with a forever poker face. Putting up false or even slightly altered smiles became an every day norm. I realized a few things during this video. First, most everyone, if not everyone I interact with does the same thing I do and Im not sure when the last time was I saw a true, unfiltered emotion on someones face. Second, one of the reasons I found your smile so alluring is the honesty behind it. Your facial expressions seem to be directly connected to your emotions without any filter so when I see your smile, in every inch of my being I instantly trust your smile like I'm looking into your soul and seeing your raw feelings. It's honestly one of the bravest things I have ever seen from someone and it deeply moves me and obviously so many other people. I'm going to work on getting rid of my never ending poker face. LOL not what I was expecting when I watched someone watch Kung Fu Panda. (If you think this is weird, I won't mind if you delete it)

This trilogy is amazing; so glad you're watching it through! It took me a while to notice, but when Tai Lung claims the scroll and sees his reflection, the frame shows us his disappointed expression. "It's nothing!?" I used to think he was talking about the scroll being blank, but through the lens of the movie's theme, you realize he's talking about himself. Contrast that with Po smiling at his reflection a few frames later. Such a poignant illustration of the power of self-love and self-belief.

Maybe Shifu took Po to the spring to let him see his reflection before he saw the scroll?
@jacobchandler7642 Жыл бұрын
@@starcrafter13terran Re-watching through that lens, I do think that moment is important. Especially since that scene is bookended by Shifu finding Po in the pantry and seeing his untapped potential, followed by a scene where he tells Po he needs to use a new method to train him. Both of those moments are about harnessing Po's unique gifts to his advantage, which is in stark contrast to when Po told Shifu earlier that he believed the only way to succeed was if he wasn't himself. And that whole sequence DEFINITELY contrasts to Tai Lung's character, which is all about seeking something external (the Dragon Scroll) to fill an internal need.

One of the fun parts about this movie is that the fearsome 5 are named after their animals but they never mention Shifu’s species…..he’s meant to be a red panda.

Bruce Lee represented learning a new skill with the Yin and Yang symbol in three steps. The first is the Yin and Yang apart from each other symbolizing lack of proficiency. The second is the Yin and Yang together symbolizing proficiency. And the third is blank symbolizing that you can use the skill without thought. If you’ve ever done a chore or or typed words on a computer without thinking about it. Then you have achieved the third level in that feat. Although any wise man will tell you there is no end to improving yourself. There is always something you can improve on.

What Oogway said about ''One often meets his destiny on the path he takes to avoid it'' was partially forshadowing how Shifu's messanger got Tai lung free, but also how he saw Darkness in Tai lung and denied himthe scroll, making that darkness exist in the first place. He was speaking from expirience!

People love kung fu panda because even if it's not authentic chinese culture it is a ode or like a love letter to chinese culture and old kung fu movies. Po in this movie is like that one nerdy kid who loves and knows small trivia about that stuff (like that one kid who knows everything about stars wars and d&d)like when he first went to the hall of heroes he knew about a vase, an armor other stuffs. He loves it so much that even in his dream he sees himself doing awesome kung fu stuff. Shifu and others being mean to Po is like think of it as you work so hard for a promotion at job and there comes this newbie who just joined and is selected for that role accidentally. And the training montage with shifu it's picked straight from the old kung fu movies where an older eccentric master teaches the protagonist new stuff and test them out using food( one of the famous scene is about a old man and his student fighting over some chicken.) Ohh man there are so many stuffs like the magic press like stuff that master oogway did to tai long at the explanation why he was locked up is like pressure point/meridian/acupuncture with a little bit of mystical aspect with glowing and others like the old swords and magic chinese movies where a protagonist cultivates his body and spirit using medicinal pills, techniques, meditation etc. Its like a perfect blend of everything we love about chinese culture. Thats why it one of the great kung fu animated movie. Would recommend you to watch other sequel of this.

The kungfu skill that OOugwei and Tai Lung used to make somebody hold still is called 点穴{diǎn xué},which is a kungfu skill that exists in legends and myths. you could reckon this as fictive skill(in real life some professional people sometimes would use it but not for fight and cannot reach the effect like in the movie) but it has been in lots of chinese kungfu novels because it's cool.
