Oh my gosh! You just totally unlocked a childhood memory of mine! I read all of the Edward Eager books as a kid and remember loving them! Adding all of them to my cart now! Magic by the Lake was one of my favorites.

We love the focus on the family radio drama of the chronicles of Narnia they love listening to them over and over again
@HumilityandDoxology7 ай бұрын
You can never overdo Narnia! We had those radio dramas on cassette way back in the day. lol No way to play the cassettes now, so we haven't heard them in a while. ;) But we love the audiobook versions of Narnia narrated by several famous British actors.

I'm so excited to hear what you said about The Silver Chair. I just started it yesterday with my kiddos (1st time through for them, 2nd? or maybe 3rd for me?)... we also have been listening to focus on the family's version of the books (after we read them). It's been wonderful!

Oh I love reading a personal favorite for the first time with my kids! It gives me a chance to revisit it almost for the first time. :) I hope you all enjoy the Silver Chair together! ❤

❤ I really enjoyed your recommendations. I look forward to checking out Little Pilgrims Progess and Half Magic books 😊 My boys have been enjoying focus on the family imagination station books 🎉 Also, praying for your son as I’ve followed that journey on some of your postings.

I’m going to have to try the Patty Woodlawn books, because the Little House scenario you described is exactly what happened at my house. My boys enjoyed farmer boy, but I cld not keep their attention with Little House in the Big Woods, and my daughter would probably love it now that she is old enough, but I will have to probably do that with just her and not our family time.

We are in The Silver Chair right now, and my boys get annoyed at me when I choke/tear up. C. S. Lewis really did layer so much in these books and you are so right that the series grows with you.

Have you read Five Children and It by E. Nesbit yet? Edward Eager was very inspired by Nesbit’s books and the kids in Half Magic even start out saying they wish they could have an adventure like in Nesbit’s books. 🙂
@HumilityandDoxology5 ай бұрын
Yes, my kids love E. Nesbit! It's really fun to see how Eager incorporates different book references to Nesbit's books in each of his titles.

I look forward to reading the Chronicles of Narnia to my kids...maybe in a year or two, I want them to be old enough to really appreciate the wonder.
