Dear Prof Moore, I have watched most of your videos but rarely leave a comment. I am really sorry for those omissions as every single video that I have watched has enlightened me to a greater or lesser degree. However, this video has had the most profound effect on me to date. Yes, I was aware that doom-scrolling was not a great idea, but somehow I feel guilty if I don't keep up with the news. Even worse I am not doing anything productive with this knowledge to improve either mine or anybodies else's life! Last night after watching this video instead of my normal routine I went to bed early with an old Agatha Christie novel. It was lovely to relax like this and be in a different world. I realise that you also have suggested some challenging reads, but I wanted to break myself in gently. I have also taken on board what you posited about real growth only coming from challenging oneself, so I am going to start with Mrs Dalloway and build up. Finally, your suggestion regarding checking out the syllabus of a University course is an excellent one. I cannot thank you enough for these video's and the effect that you are making to help people live life better. Thank you.

This is one of the nicest comments I’ve received! Thank you so much for watching the videos. I’m so glad to hear you’ve gotten something out of them. One never knows when making these things whether they have an effect or who exactly is watching them. So it’s always so great to hear that they’re helping people to live a fuller life. And I love Agatha Christie! I usually read a Hercule Poirot book every summer. I started Cards On The Table several weeks ago but haven’t finished it quite yet. 🙂

Hey Professor Moore, Thanks for your views on beauty, tragedy & our "soul". Your genuine appreciation for literature & Life are a pleasure to listen to & your videos are well done, I think. While walking through one of our many parks & noticing many hues of green today, I felt the need to thank you for all your invaluable work. May Dame Fortune continue to smile upon you & all those near to you. Good day to you, sir.

I have found my new favorite book channel! Thanks for the suggestions! Most of the other book suggestion videos I have watched lately just suggest the same books over and over again. In the two videos of yours that I have watched, I have already gotten a bunch of new books on my TBR!

I really appreciate you bringing to awareness these books and cultivating a deeper perspective of beauty! I love how you allow even the unpleasant and that which reaches into our soul to be acknowledged as beautiful. Thanks for assisting sir to behold how the majesty of the human heart-mind is the majesty of the universe itself on display.

As soon as I started this video the first thing I thought of was Mercy Among the Children. Im so glad to see it recommended. I've passed it along to so many others and it has been on my mind again recently. I may have to pick it up to read again. It was also nice to see Holy Cross again, I miss it a lot.

It's a book that stays with you, isn't it. I'll have to find a chance to teach it again sometime soon.

Adding these to the list. Reading Necropolitics on your recommendation. You weren’t lying. It. Is. DENSE. But surprisingly I’m enjoying even though I don’t fully comprehend everything Mbembe is saying. Again love your content Professor!
