I live in an old gold town in Victoria, Australia. Bought a Mining Right, grabbed a pan kit, watched this video today and went out to a local creek. Inside edge, down in gravel, close to bedrock. First time out picked up a few flakes. It was great fun. Thanks for your videos.

My man, wearing the Darth Vader shirt, while panning for the beautiful yellow. Darth Vader is my favorite. Him, and Boba Fett is a VERY close second. I have to say the The Empire, Galactic Empire, and the First Order have some AWESOME characters. Well, that being said, I have just started panning for gold here in Southern Az. I love being outdoors, and I heard that Az had quite a bit of gold sti out there. Your videos were some of the very first I watched. Then watched some more, from other channels. Well, I came back around to your videos while watching those. After watching several different channels, yours, BY FAR, were the most informative. The way you explain the workings of panning, the do's/don'ts, make it so easy to learn. There's still a pretty steep learning curve, learning from KZbin videos. You learn from your mistakes, and push on. I find myself going back to your videos I've saved, and rewatching them to hone my skills. Thank you for your videos!! Since I've found some gold, not a lot, my wife, and son have joined me. It's now a family hobby. You honestly have a big part in that. I was getting frustrated until I came to your videos. You just have a way to simplify everything, and make it enjoyable. Again, thank you, and I look forward to more videos.

Great informative videos, BUT no one that instructs the public about panning or dredging, ever brings up the matter of " sites that are CLAIMED"! Please advise people that are new to this venture, that they could be in violation of someone's claim and be subject to confiscation of gathered minerals(gold etc.) and even violence. Also large corporations seem to stake claims on many areas that aren't necessarily for gold but other minerals. Check you're states Bureau of Land Management for info on what areas are available for prospecting. I hope this helps. I'm not criticizing, I just hadn't heard this subject addressed. EUREKA!!!

What about above a water fall. We have some private property in northern Maine and has a nice creek/ Brook running through it. It has a nice water fall about 20 ft wide with a 5-8ft drop. I never panned it before but will be going up in Oct.. Being Oct I can't really jump in and get under the falls but above the falls is nice bedrock with some very nice cracks, some over a foot deep. Also above the falls about 200 yards is and bunch of bends with one really sharp bend. Will that effect gold deposits above the falls and would be more concentrated at the bends? Would like to send some aerial pictures of it and see what you think.
@KobraVR4 жыл бұрын
For a waterfall I would recommend setting up a scaffold rig across the plunge-pool then suspend yourself by the feet right over the deepest part. Now with a brick tied around your neck for ballast with the aid of a pulley you should be able to dangle yourself in with little effort. For breathing you could set-up an air-bladder out of a football and some hose pipe, attach this between your thighs and you can operate this by squeezing your legs together whilst suspended for unlimited breathing. It's hard to explain I drew it on some towel but it got wet. Let me know how you get on and if you find any gold you can split it with me and your next of kin :v

Another simple river system 'Reading'. How about something exciting like a steeper river system, boulder strewn and with major side sluffing. Ya know, them rivers where the gravel bars disappear every winter and sometimes reform and sometimes not and the water pushes 15 ton boulders around every 10 years. Maybe throw in some nice / chert or other polished bedrock often found in the Cascades ect.

I do my panning and gold sniping on the Yuba River in Northern California. Similar conditions to your examples. Thanks for the helpful hints. Of course there's plenty of places where gold "should be". As they say, gold is where you find it.
