I love Check and Mate!! I personally don’t think it’s chess heavy. Sure they talk about chess and go to events, but it’s not the like the girl in joy luck club literally explaining the game and moves every other page. It’s super cute and I just love Ali Hazelwood!

♟️ i loved check and mate so much!! i read it one day and I think it might be might favourite ali hazelwood. the focus on mallory and her struggles and character growth was so good and the romance was everything and the plot was so fun and she made chess interesting and understandable for someone who didn't have any knowledge of or interest in chess beforehand

Hey alexaaa❤ I completely agree with you.. after dreamland billionaires , I was kinda disappointed with this book… felt no connection, felt repetitive, I didn’t feel connected to the characters… and wasn’t really interested in the designing plot of it… basically didn’t care for the characters at all…DNFed at 70 percent 😢
