Was the outcome of the sacrifice context God telling him "no, your brother can take care of himself" and Cain's question a rhetoric for "I thought you told me, I wasn't my brother's keeper?" Big brothers typically enjoy keeping smaller siblings, and sometimes they can become overbearing.
