I love the word work centers and how they’re focused on vocabulary! This has been the biggest shift from teaching primary to upper elementary-getting students to focus on vocabulary and morphology. Thanks for sharing!

My favorite reading center is writing as it really offers the opportunity to apply vocabulary, punctutation, literary elements, and they can show off their creativity. I love the choices you offered and think they are engaging options.

So glad I spent the last five minutes with you. My favorite center is the Word Work cards. I have something similar: it looks like a BINGO card and the students get to mark five in a row while they complete the activities. Thanks for your share of positivity!

Also, the book project is such a great idea. I think this will encourage others to finish a book and the project so they can present. It is like Reading show and tell!

Thank you for all the information. I am moving from 3 years teaching Math to 5th grade ELAR. This was great because now I think I have an idea as to what a reading block looks like. Love all the center ideas! If I watch again, I'll take notes. LOL

I really love your writing center. I like how the students can use the cube to help them choose what to focus on. I also like how you change it up with the freebies

I loved the book project center because the students get to make a play of the novel they read. I think its a great incentive for students to want to read higher level books so that they can create a play. Good job!

Hi! I loved your writing center. I like that you require an entire page to be filled out before they illustrate their story-excellent tactic. Hope I win your product! Good luck and have a great start of school year! Yribelda-4th Grade Teacher

I just saw this video! It was very helpful! I'm soon going to be a first year teacher and was looking for some ideas on how to do centers with upper elementary. Thanks for this video! My favorite one was the word work. I like how you said that you have students do vocabulary activities but also had options for those struggling with spelling. That was a great tip! Definitely will do that in my own classroom. When will you put up the guided reading video? That's is something that I'm still looking more into. Thank you for this video!

Hello! This video really did help a lot! My favorite center is the listening to reading! I’ve been trying to find new ideas for centers and thinking about how to incorporate a listening to reading center! Using epic would be perfect! Thank you so much!

Questions! :) Do your students do each of those reading centers everyday? Also, about how long are each of those centers?
@thefriendlyteacher4815 жыл бұрын
My students do not. I found that doing one center a day for a longer time period helped my kiddos more! So, we do one center a day for 30 minutes! If I had more time I would for sure do more!
