I think learning tarot is hard because there’s this amalgamation of old skool “rules” and modern social mores. I always kinda vibed with courts as energy when learning and that really unlocked them for me. Then I learned the importance of context and spread positions/questions. I think the main focus is making sure all your positions mean something to your question. If they are precise and relevant to the inquiry, they kind of tel you how to perceive the courts in your reading. After you practice that for awhile, I think your intuition will better understand how to see the courts in each reading and how they may change depending. Fabulous video as always, Lisa. I think youre a great teacher since you also use your heart. I wish I’d had someone like you when I was learning the tarot

I love the fact that there is so much emphasis on the personalities of the Court cards these days, rather than the Queen of Wands is a blonde woman.

I think a deck that empowers the queer energy & not limiting is such an amazing idea 🌈 that twist the gender norms

Also, Zodiac signs can correspond with court cards. Wands = Fire (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius). Cups = Water (Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio). Swords = Air (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra). Pentacles = Earth (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn). The Divine Feminine and the Divine Masculine can be interchangeable.

Interesting. There are indeed several ways to read the court cards. So can you explain each court card as advice?

I tend to work with the Court cards in elemental terms. Pages-Earth, Knights-Fire(usually) Queens-Water, Kings-Air(usually). If the deck I'm using specifies a difference in elemental associations I use that (TOV), but this is my normal.

For the most part court cards are always referring to me. The time it would be is when I specifically as about someone/something that is not me.

Another wonderful video, thank you Lisa. I love the Anna K., too, and have had really moving ancestor readings with it, using the court cards to get a better picture of my different ancestors. It really made them come alive for me. Depending on the question and spread position, I sometimes read court cards as the "connective energy" between myself and another person. Things we have in common, things we get excited about, or the character of our relationship. Following the theory of Gestalt psychology (and personal experience), a relationship between two humans is always more than just the sum of two people. Court cards are really great tools to explore not only the character of a relationship but also how it develops over time. I'm looking forward to your videos in 2023.

I think my favorite thing you said was about the King of Cups: "He’s very comfortable among the tumultuousness of emotion." Spot on! This video would have been perfect for the hashtag #DoYouEvenCourt. Different readers gave their take on how they deal with the courts and it was great listening to everyone’s views. When I did my version of the tag, I did a comparison of courts to different corporate levels at work. Courts can be a lot of fun to play with. Thanks so much for sharing your perspective.

Hi Lisa, This year has been a hard one for me financially, so I had to drop to the bottom unicorn membership. I love this series and just recently really started to try and understand the court cards better. In working out if they are a person or not, I just use a yes or no question with another deck. If I get a major arcana or an Ace it's a yes. Anything else is a no.

Thank you for this video. I haven't quite mastered courts yet so this was very informative. I was taught to view the courts as an evolution from page to king (as you were explaining). However I struggle to energetically differentiate the queens from the kings. What's that next step of evolution that brings a queen to a king?

Love your videos! Just wondering if you've ever done one about what you do to prepare for a reading whether for yourself or someone else. I feel like I just sit down and try to read and it doesn't always work the best. Maybe I need to meditate for a bit? I'm new to reading and taking your online course. :)
