From someone who really loved A Dowry of Blood (like it’s one of my favorite books), I really liked it for 3 main reasons I think. The first was really the beautiful, atmospheric gothic vibes. The second thing is like how each relationship between the characters and Constanta’s character development were SO fleshed out and thought of I feel like. The last thing, was like how erotic and sensual the writing was. I thought the author’s way of being sexy and poetic without being vulgar/cringy. The big thing connecting it all (if you couldn’t tell, lol), I think was the writing. Like u said, just so poetic. It really gripped me.

When I have read a book and cried about it my mom has always been like "Why do you cry? It´s just a book" and "Don't read it if you are going to cry". Maybe wait a couple weeks before reading The Dead Romantics. I read The Seven Year Slip in February, cried the whole way through. It’s so painfully beautiful. I just finished TDR last night and it didn’t hit me as hard but I still teared up and annotated a lot. It’s absolutely a 5 star for me and I bet you’ll love it but I can’t compare them in my brain. So excited for her new release this summer!

I was on the same page with Dowry of Blood!! I felt bad too because I had really high hopes, but it took me so long to read because I kept putting it down for other books (something I never do) and by the time I finally did get through it I was unfortunately underwhelmed :/

I read The Dead Romantics before The Seven Year Slip. IMO I like TDR better than TSYS, I think I’ve got to re-read both at some point and see how I feel about it lol! 😂 also LOVED The Naturals series! I read all of them in like 2 weeks!! My favorite series so far!
