In the years since this video my school has changed our structure quite a bit. I will be making a New/Updated video in the coming month to explain this more and share resources ❤️ We flex for reading groups so 1 teacher has high intervention (kids 2+ years below), 1 teacher has intervention (1 year behind), 1 teacher has on 2nd grade level student and we have an other teacher who takes all the students who are reading high above grade level. Each teacher focuses on phonics concepts students need in alignment with SOR in addition to components of a classic reading group structure. The word work lists come from the weekly phonics concepts being covered in each group.

thank you so much for this! I introduced daily 5 to my kids last year pretty late because I was hired late and didn't get the training until later! This year I'm going to use your schedule to pick up the pace and keep us on track!

This was fantastic in so many ways! However, I am so confused with the daily schedule you provided. I thought you were rotating between one day (indep rdg and word work) and the next day (tech and writing). Are you taking red and green together (for teacher group) on rotation 1 on Mondays and then blue and yellow together for teacher group for R2? Also, is the independent reading a.k.a the teacher group?

I love this! I’ve been wanting to change how I do stations for a while now and I love this setup! What do you do for students who finish word work before the time is up? Or do they do as many word work activities that they can in that time?
@GoldenStateEducate7 ай бұрын
Hi Kayla! I not longer run my centers this way due to some changes at my school however all of this advice is still super applicable! When students in word work finished early I would have them complete work from their unfinished folder or they could work on another technology app (Epic, RazKids, iReady, Boddle).

So…two years late, but our school is implementing a daily 3 that will include word work. My question for you is how do the students know which words to use for word work pages? Do they have spelling or phonic conceopt lists that you have to manage daily/weekly?

Super helpful thanks so much for explaining everything so clearly. Was curious if you would do a video in the future on the structure and curriculum you use in your small group reading? Thanks!

Hey! I loved your video, it was so informative for a first year teacher looking to make some changes to my reading centers. I am wondering, do your students turn in their word work/writing or do they put them in a reading center folder/notebook?
