Calling Sirius Black a fucking dog. Lily IS psychic. (BTW, the reason why Sirius had a knife was because he had just used it to cut down the curtains around Ron's bed while he was looking for Pettigrew. Why he didn't just pull the curtains aside I don't know, but he'd just spent 12 years in the worst prison on earth, and revenge was right on the other side of that curtain, so I guess he felt stabby.)

I love that you point out Ron's character because it's so easy to forget how amazing he is in the books. He's loyal and protective of his friends and family and he's got the street smarts to compliment Hermione's book smarts. In the movies, Harry and Hermione are both perfect and smart and beautiful and Ron just becomes a third wheel tagging along for comedic relief.

And it didn't help, that JKR said, she regrets making Ron and Hermiony a couple! I think that's the best decision she made! It would be so cheesy if Harry and Hermione would have ended up together! But her regrets suggest, that she doesn't value Ron as much as he deserves it. I love him very dearly for his lack of "superpowers" and yet never giving up - he reminds me a lot of Xander in Buffy! Always there for his friends, who sometimes not even realize how much he is helping!
@lillyp.79436 жыл бұрын
meggs762 I also hate how they portray Ginny. In the book she is sassy and cool and you can understand why Harry and her are a couple. In the film she is introverted and innocent, which somehow makes the relationship with Harry incomprehensible. I can understand why they did it because Bonnie Wright was only casted as a minor character for the scene on the platform in the first movie, but still I hate what they did to my favorite character in the books!

All your rants about Malfoy are one of the reasons why this is now one of my favorite videos now! Also, your opinion on Ron is also why I love Ron. People love dissing on Ron and stuff but he's the most human character of them all. I love that guy! And I think the knife thing was because Sirius wanted to kill Peter and sorta knew that he was living as his animagus with Ron and just went there to kill him.
@null69556 жыл бұрын
ron was my favourite character! i could relate to him so much. he was an amazing friend.
@sarasamaletdin45746 жыл бұрын
SPOILERS regarding Ron He gets a lot of criticism but the fact just is that he gets less and less relevant things to do in the books (such as him explaining the magical world to Harry and the audience ecomes unnesecary) while Harry and Hermione get more competent. He also says many very insensitive things and is used for comedy more which is not that funny to compensate for the issues. But the worst issue is that the next and the 7th book undermined the main trait Lily is praising here which is loyalty. I wonder if Rowling did not really find much to do for Ron in later books so played his insecurities and made he behave more like a teen boy for comedy but it just does not work for the most part.

The Prisoner of Azkaban movie is my favorite because if its aesthetic and atmosphere. But you're right, it leaves out so much information that is essential for understanding the story. Another thing I think they leave out is the story about how Snape found out Lupin was a werewolf, how James saved his life -- which is the life debt Dumbledore mentioned in the first book. Also, Snape said that to Hermione because he's an asshole 😂 my favorite character, but he should not be a teacher. He should be working in a lab with like, minimal human contact.

also the scene where the marauders map starts bullying snape is pretty telling about the bullying snape most likely faced from the marauders. if they enchanted the map to recognise snape and make fun of him it is pretty telling how much snape was targeted by them.

@Xylos1446 жыл бұрын
I'll just say, I love your series here. The way you mind works is a wonderful experience, because you really tap into whats going on, and at the same time you're still just far enough off that the reveals are as entertaining to watch as they were to first experience over a decade ago. Well done on the Crookshanks theory btw, you basically figured out like 80% of the reveal while still missing it entirely! To your comment about loving the book and loving the world building and back story and all that. I will not spoil anything (because people who spoil things should be drawn and quartered) but I'll say that Book 3 was pretty much my favorite book, because it sets the groundwork for literally everything to follow. When you spoke about the moving cutting a lot of things out - that's kind of why the movies start to get more divisive. Movie 1 and 2 follow the books so closely that they work very well. But Movie 3 cuts so much out that gets built upon later. While movie 3 is overall pretty good, what they decided to cut out really starts to undercut developing stories down the road, which is a big part of why the quality of the subsequent movies starts to become more controversial. A lot of big payoffs later on have to be cut or worked around, because the groundwork is missing. Anyway, not going to say anything more than that. But this all just kind of goes to say: You really like the world building and the backstory and the whole tightly-woven aspect of the stories. This is basically just a promise that that only compounds and grows, and no matter how much I tell you to expect it, you're still going to be surprised at all the call-backs to book 3, and even books 1 and 2 by the end of the series. It's why so many people love the book series. You're in for a treat. Happy Reading!

I'm enjoying this series so much, I've grown with Harry so it's really interesting seeing what someone who never read them thinks about them! I absolutely loved your Crookshanks theory, it would have been a good plot twist. It's so much fun to watch your reading vlogs bc you're SO CLOSE to figuring out the plot twists just one tiny detail away. Also, in Book 5 take note of the medallion/necklace they find in the house and can't open. Just remember it for the later books.

The marauders changed into animals because it allowed them to be with Lupin in his wolf form without presenting a threat to them as humans. It also made it easier for them to sneak out and enter the shrieking shack through the whomping willow. I'm pretty sure at one point in the book this is briefly explained and we're even told Peter's rat form was useful because he could just run through the branches quickly and touch the knob on the Willow that freezes it easily. I'm so glad you enjoyed the book though!!! Genuinely can't wait until you read Goblet of Fire
