I CANNOT get enough of your content right now!!! All your videos are so on point, grounded, and relatable! Spreads are useful, but new or fresh. The presentation of them is forthright and informative while enjoyable. And I’m SO APPRECIATIVE of your ability to inspire but not set crazy high expectations for completing spreads! You make me feel seen in not always getting spreads filled out but that it’s ok! THANK YOU!!!

I'm debating whether or not I should dedicate one entire journal to poetry pursuits or to combine it with a reading journal. I mostly want to include my own thoughts (prose) regarding the books I read, a list of all book characters (so I don't forget them), an annual list of the books I read, and I do like the idea of including a stamp-sized printout of the bookcover (eventhough I audiobook nearly all my reads.) I don't really see myself following reading challenges or needing to make my books compete against each other. But I would like to be able to recall them better when I discuss them or think about them years afterwards. As for my poetry journal, I want to include detailed notes about the various structured poetry forms that I can refer to when I write structured poems. I want to include fragments, words, phrases, or notes that might work as inspiration. And I want to include short random poems I stumble upon that I want to remember and revisit. Do these two groups work inside the same binding ?? or is this two half-filled journals ? IDK. I also track short stories I write. Poetry and prose that I submit to literary journals. Etc. Right now, these are scattered collections in my BUJO but they are hard to find there.

i say make two journals, i think it would help you keep you more organized and look cute. your reading journal should work best for you, don’t include anything you don’t want or think you’ll use. and also add whatever pages you want. but i do think a poetry book would be super cool!
@ndbyers23

Marjorie, It sounds like you are very serious about reading and poetry, but in this case I think two journals are essential. Just in this post you have specified things that are important to you that really don’t belong together. Sure, overall they do, but for your purposes they sound like they would be greater in two separate locations. For things that you want to be in both, you could make a note referring back to the page in journal A or (this is probably bad bujo form)scan your original page and paste it in your other journal. I can see those journals becoming 2, 4, 6, 8… What a project this can become! I love your idea. I would also be intrigued to see your reading journal format. I typically listen to all my books also, and the covers are typically the same, I don’t think that it matters if you paste in a “book” edition cover. And of course, most reading journals do not account for a listening format, besides noting it’s an audible book. Of course, there’s so much more to it. I love words also, and love to write down ones I fall in love with, new or old. Have you ever heard that Shakespeare was a word magpie, who would take odd pieces of words and fit them together? That is such a great picture of collecting bits and pieces and hiding them away until the shiny newness is ready to reveal itself. Anyway, I hope that gave you another thought concerning your journal ideas. Come back and let me know what you choose to do!

@@ndbyers23 What an insightful comment, Nanci. TY. I hadn't heard that Shakespeare was a "word magpie" but a.) that doesn't surprise me and b.) I love the phrase, word magpie. I'm almost done with a months long project of reading all his sonnets so it is particularly interesting at this moment in time. I've got to carve out the time to layout my journal/s. I'm not super artistic about it. Jess definitely over-inspires me. Now I'm thinking I need: 1. an everyday scheduling BUJO, 2. a year long collections journal, 3. a longterm journal aka commonplace book, 4. a poetry notebook, 5. a reading journal and 6. my Morning Pages Journal. Ugh. I'll be journaling so much I won't have time to write stories and poems. ha ha. What's going to be on your shelf in 2023 ?!

Each spread is just so outstanding! I'm genuinely amazed at the fact that you went so hard 100% full chest and I'm p sure this is your R&D bujo, right? This makes me want to throw some ephemera and maybe some...effort...into my reading journal. I love the bingo spreads. I use one in my reggo bujo, and I actually use my zig dot markers so I can see how many times I did that thing as well. I just fill the squares up with dots 😊 it's nice if you're curious about your stats on a thing

I've been literally looking for reading challenges for my bujo, and I finally came up with one. I knew I needed to make it with a reward thing, because I'm horrible at dedicating myself to sitting down and reading, so here's how I'm doing mine (I'm still in the pencil/planning stages): I'm having a two page spread, with a small dutch door in between those pages. On each page, I'm going to make spaces so I can print and cut out the covers of the books I'm going to read (one a month), have a space to write the title and author, and have a 5-star rating of what I thought about it, as well as having a little box where I "stamp" a dot in it, to let myself know that I completed the book. In the little dutch door, I drew in a Rewards jar. For each book completed, I put in a "$10 coin" into the jar. If I read all 12 books, that will equal out to $120 in the jar. Whatever "money" I put into the jar, my reward will be "that amount" that I can spend on ANYTHING on Amazon! So, that kinda gives a really good motive to want to read and complete a book ;) I'm also being reasonable about it too, because I can be a slow reader, so hopefully nothing too thick, and nothing too complicated of a read that it would make me lose interest in the book.

@@JashiiCorrin Not only that, but there's stuff on my Amazon wishlist that has been there for *years*...this way, if I'm successful at completing one book per month, I'd be able to get some of those older things, finally!

I'm new to bullet journaling - in fact, I have just ordered my first bujo notebook and am excitedly waiting for it to arrive so I can get started!! Book lists and challenges are my top goal for 2023, reading a book a week and using these challenges to help me pick books I wouldn't normally gravitate towards! I loved your suggestions and will be incorporating 2 or 3 of them! Thank you!! :)

Thank you! This the most beautiful reading journal - great job! Love the vintage look. I’m just finishing my 2022 reading journal and trying to figure how much or little I’m going to put in my 2023 journal. Looking for more suggestions for tracking genres, for readers who read lots ( I’m at 75 books read this year so far) - any ideas would be appreciated! Also, genre plus format - eg how many biographies did I listen to, versus read? The best way to read lots of book = audio books! Hello from Ottawa, Canada! 🇨🇦🇨🇦

I’m a new subscriber, and I have a question that is rather unrelated to this video, but it does relate to most of your content. It appears that you set up a monthly theme where all the weeks follow that theme. I’m new at bullet journaling, and I typically just change up the theme weekly because I don’t set up months at a time. I’m lucky if I do a week ahead. I’m tend to change my theme weekly. Also your spreads are incredible, but I have health issues and don’t work and sometimes am in bed all day with a migraine. I need something flexible and very simple, but I love your channel. Do you have any ideas that I can use that would be easier? I also tend to use lots of Washi tape and stickers and write big. I would love to hear some ideas for the less artistic adept folks! 😂
