Follow up at Ken Ham: "Is raping your own children wrong?" The bible doesn't mention it. You could consider raping somebody elses children a property crime but that doesn't apply to their own. That means it either isn't wrong or it is less important to "God" than wearing mixed fibers.

Okay, but I tell you what: You need to accept Jesus Christ as your savior, not because your soul is in danger, although it is; but because he loves you. You simply have to admit that you are a sinner and ask him to come into your life and save your soul. That's the least you can do since he died on the cross to pay the price for your sins. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but will have everlasting life.

I always hate the argument that "oh, well, you were taught evolution in your public school, that's why you're an evolutionist." Like, for me personally, the word "evolution" was never even uttered in my science classes until I took AP Bio, which is a college class, and I'm pretty sure that college-level students are able to decide what they believe in religiously by themselves. Even then, my teacher gave a disclaimer that "this is the scientific point of view. Learn it, understand it, then decide for yourself if you believe in it." I would also say that I learned world religions in my history classes in middle school--Christianity, Islam, and Judaism, mostly. That definitely didn't influence my religious decisions either. So that argument is bullshit.
@skelskeleton8 жыл бұрын
Im an ex christian who was homeschooled. Evolution was concidered in my family as 100% false and that god is the only truth. Every curiculem shoved religion down my throat (Philsophy, History, Science, Health, etc). I just resently learned about evolution and atheism and after some research i agree with both ideas. This argument really is moronic.

First of all, pls don't equivocate the different meanings of the word believe. The way you used it in those sentences was more "I think," not "I believe." Second, the true definition of a belief, "a state or habit of mind in which trust or confidence is placed in some person or thing (MW)" is kind of the definition of a religion.
@garethchurch32367 жыл бұрын
First of all, it's very difficult to equivocate on the different meanings of a word that has only one meaning. I think you need to decide which of your two contradictory points you want to make. Second, the definition of religion is "the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods". Clearly that's nothing like the definition of 'belief'. Belief is about the level of trust you placed in something. Religion is the idea that the supernatural and/or a god exists. Saying that the definitions of belief and religion are "kind of" the same he's a bit like saying the definitions of 'air travel' and 'New Zealand' are the same. Third, you totally missed Rafe's point. He gave examples of the same type of equivocation as Ken Ham used in order to show how ridiculous it is.
@noahparker507 жыл бұрын
Rafe Tizer Religion: A belief held to with ardor and faith. That is correct, isn't it? It's a belief held to with ardor and faith. It's a belief on how we were created and what will happen after death (I guess for you, nothing).

They’d get speakers at our weekly chapel service and one gentleman started to hate his brother just because he didn’t believe in Jesus. The teachers were right winged as F and would instantly get triggered over simple statements such as “Abraham Lichion is my favorite President”. They would even make fun of historians for no reason(saying “maybe if Historians should realize some things are not important, such as a China plate might not be relevant). Really the only good people there was the students.

Apparently...we can't have that happening. I was friended by Mark Looy of the Creation Museum so that he could dispute some "facts" with me and then that was it for me! Ken's followers are ... interesting. I've been informed that the reason there is no longer water on Mars is that it all poured down to the earth and that's what created the flood. I wish you luck with his people when they track you down Alex. :)

If you like clam and reasonable discussion, surely this is the last channel you'd want to subscribe to? This man is extremely unpleasant, sarcastic, disrespectful and condescending towards Christians, even going so low as to insult their grammar in an attempt to make himself look clever. I wasn't able to watch more than 2 minutes of this video without being appalled by his sheer arrogance and unpleasantness. If you want calmness, reasonableness, and civilized conversation, then I recommend you follow after Jesus Christ and His Kingdom, where you will find such things amongst those who have been born of the Holy Spirit. Though please note that the vast majority of those calling themselves "Christians" have absolutely nothing to do with Jesus Christ, and the Bible absolutely proves that. The Bible says that anyone who has been born of God _cannot_ sin and those who belong to Jesus will bear the same spirit as Him, who is meek and gentle and completely good.

He's an incredibly polite, intelligent and deep thinking young man who is encouraging people to think about what they believe instead of following like sheep. I, on the other hand, am a slightly older firebrand atheist and I will say this - religion is mythology. It's all made up by bronze-aged goat herders. There has never been a single shred of scientifically valid proof of any deity, ever, in the entire history of the earth. Not one. And outside of scripture there is no proof that Jesus existed either. Odd that writers of the time, especially Philo, make no mention of this supposedly important historical figure...don't you think? You should watch Alex's videos with a more open mind unless you're afraid you might learn something that might make you rethink your religion.

As a scientist and as a researcher this really frustrates me. Not because of the stupidity, but because I know how hard it is for anyone in the scientific community to have his claim and opinion to be judged, not alone accepted, not alone published, not alone spread! If only the scientific community would have accepted logic like creationism, my life would have been so much easier. and being lazy as I am... yeah... frustrating... Alex I expected better research from you! Christian's do not believe objective reality because it is written in the Bible (that would mean that only Christians are moral...this just isn't the case!). Christians believe Romans 2 : 15 that "God has written the law upon mans heart by giving people consciences" so regardless of your belief in God everyone has ability to judge/agree on certain moral characteristics, it's nothing to do with Bible says this and that's morality, its the fact that God has breathed moral judgement into the human heart!
@azgreenskeeper8 жыл бұрын
I didn't hear Alex say that... all he did say was that it doesn't fit with parts of your holy text, just like it doesn't with the Qu'ran and others.
@thedivinemrm58328 жыл бұрын
That's right, focus on some obscure definition or misapprehension and ignore all the facts proving your faith to be wholly misplaced.
@DrGerbils8 жыл бұрын
Alex did say that Christians get their morality from the Bible. But that is most likely because a great many Christians say they get their morality from the bible. If you want a fight in the US, just tell a Christian he can't tack up copies of the ten commandments everywhere. Every anti-LGBT Christian anywhere on Earth will point to Leviticus as the source of his moral teaching on the subject. If and when Christians can decide on the source of their morality, the rest of us will try to get it right.

They also used traditional materials like Noah's Reinforced Concrete and Noah's Steel Supports.

@ohhahhcantona7 жыл бұрын
dianalee84 So you're actually agnostic on the subject because the evidence isn't conclusive? Scepticism can sometimes stray into cynicism, especially if you approach a subject with preconceived ideas. The Bible calls it a "hardened heart" and it doesn't allow the message to resonate with The Word (Jesus Christ) written on our hearts. It's saying that the nature of god is in our essence, it's a core part of each of us, we just need to find it. I would suggest a couple of people that might be interesting and entertaining research subjects on this matter. John Lennox who has many lectures and debates freely available to watch on youtube. He comes from the perspective of logical reasoning as a Cambridge mathematics proffessor, but is a creationist. This man deals in proof (you can't prove anything without mathematics) and God is where his reasoning takes him. Also Cliffe Knechte, a University campus preacher, who really digs into some of the moral and historical aspects of Christianity. Then try reading the Gospels to understand the nature of Jesus, Genesis to understand the creation and revelation to understand end time prophesy. Once you do, you'll realise what you see in the world is described in perfect detail in revelation and that should make you at least curious as to why. Sorry if I sound a bit preachy but the claim that followers of Christ love all men is actually true. I love and care for you and want nothing more than to see you one day in paradise. God bless.

Does your work benefit or not benefit from that monstrosity? Is there an Atheist community there? Or are you limited to the online presence of Atheists? So many questions. Sorry. I live in rural Maine and there's a pretty tolerant attitude. So much so that several churches have closed down due to poor attendance (one got turned into a Hindu Temple for a year or so before it, too, closed). There's sort of a weirdly similar relationship to gun ownership here in which no one asks others about their gun ownership even though ownership is pretty high (deer hunting) but we have *very* few gun deaths.

Is god able to prevent evil but not willing, then he's malevolent. Is god able and willing to prevent evil, why is there still evil? Is god neither able nor willing, then why call him god? I'd LOVE to hear a god believer's response to this one. _Because god gave us Free Will ?_ If god is omnipotent, then he knows what he'll do tomorrow, and there's no way he can change that. This means two things; he's not omnipotent, and he's a slave to a manuscript that was set by ....whom or what? And this impossible god is giving us something he can't have himself? Yeah right..... But you'll have eternal suffering if you DON'T believe in him for no good reason! So much for this "free will"....
