😂🤣 I read all three you chose when I was a kid, or to my kids! They are wonder books. I can still hear Malinda giggling our way through Phantom & the Prydain Chronicles were an easy way to capture Tof and get him wanting to read more! (He used to “steal” the books and read ahead🤭) Golden Key completely captured my heart as a young girl. I doubt I read any meaning into it, I was just enchanted. Then each reread I found more magic and meaning.♥️

Definitely the first two are full of giggles, that must have been a delight to share your childhood joy with your own kids. Golden key is one of those that has a whimsical, magical story kids can be delighted by, but has things to think more deeply once you get older, so I really liked that. Love a layered story like that. I have at least one other book from the author to give a try, I absolutely need to get to.

It was brilliant fun, and I love getting to these children's classics I missed out on.

Glad the weather cooperated during your trip! Such great photos. Looks like you made it to tons of bookstores - and maybe Lake Crescent, even? What a fun theme for your reading vlog. I've heard of the first two books, but the third is totally new to me. Very intriguing sounding books!

I was super pleased both downtown Sequim & PA seem to be doing well and alive, not totally derelict. There is a newish bookstore in Sequim main street I also wanted to visit but didn't make it to, amazing they have such great indie bookshops available in the area though, they'd rival many here. Yes, Lake Crescent was one of the outdoorsy stops. If you wind up going there sometime, definitely check their events, they had a list coming up that all sounded so good.

I have an inexplicable craving for crab now. 🦀 😂 I want to read The Phantom Tollbooth and was glad to hear you enjoyed it. Sorry for the crappy travel shenanigans.

Since you like Mid Grade I do think Phantom Tollbooth could work for you, definitely when you are in the mood for some over the top silliness.

The Black Cauldron movie combines elements of the first two books in the series (The Book of Three and The Black Cauldron). If you like audiobooks, there are some very well done ones narrated by James Langton.

Thank you, that is excellent to know! I definitely want to watch the movie, but I'll have to wait till I've read the 2nd book then. The library probably has the audio, so will definitely give that a check.

Did you fly to Sequim?!?!
@ReadBecca13 күн бұрын
I flew to seattle and drove to sequim, I have flown to the PA airport in the past, but as far as I know they no longer have commercial flights, and private charters are $$$

@@ReadBecca Wow! That WAS a long travel day.
@ReadBecca13 күн бұрын
Absolutely a loooong day. It was even longer because I had multiple delays and wound up having to rebook things, so I lost a chunk of Friday I was supposed to be in Seattle area 😐 I was too stressed to read much, normally I read the whole time on flights, but the books I picked worked out perfectly for the time and brain power I had, and I read a small amount of other stuff.
