I am raising a red flag on "The House in the Cerulean Sea". This book is rather controversial, to say the least. Klunes source material for this book was Canada's Sixties Scoop. Considering the history of Canada residential boarding schools and the latest news (the remains of 215 unidentified indigenous children have been found at a former residential school), this should not be praised without proper education on how this book came together. This author is exploiting indigenous trauma for profit.

Hi Cari! I’m Spanish and Carlos Ruiz Zafón is one of my all time favourite author, it was so nice hearing you telling us about your experience reading one of his books, I have already read all the books in that series, and they are absolutely amazing, particularly the third one will break you heart into million pieces, I hope you continue reading his books 🥰 (Sorry for my not so good English BTW)

My eyes just pop out of my head (not literally, thanks God), but thanks for the adrenaline and for not telling spoilers. And watch a video of you talking about books really made my day! :)

I’m so happy you read “The shadow of the wind” (El nombre del viento) i read it when i was thirteen (i think?) and absolutely loved it. I read it in spanish, since its my first language, and Zafon’s descriptions just made me feel, for the very first time, immersed in a story as if i was there, it felt really tangible, the old gothic Barcelona, i feared for the things relevant to the dictatorship that was going on. This book taught to love literature. I would definitely encourage you to read the rest of the books, they are beautiful. In a sad note, the author passed away a few months ago, i was really shocked, and now more than ever, i hang onto his work. Love you Cari, greatings from Spain.

Hey I LOVE Studio Ghibli! And I found out about your channel by your Studio Ghibli video. And I actually didn't even heard of House in the Cerulean Sea, but you just got me interested and I will definitely check it out. I also wanna read an English book, it's been a while, so yeah, thank you! Also when you wished us a happy november, I just remembered that it's the fifth of november! *Remember, remember, the fifth of november, gunpowder treason and plot. I see no reason why the gunpowder treason should ever be forgotten.* I don't know if you watched V for Vendetta but it's one of my all time favourite movies! Like it's up there just a little bit lower than Lord of the Rings and Spirited Away and a little bit higher than The Prestige! So it's basically my 3rd fav movie. It's great! If you haven't watched it I highly recommend it. Also happy November to you too, loved the video. Also I love the bookclub idea.

The Cerulean Sea sounds so interesting! Definitely want to read that. I've been on a reading kick the past couple of weeks! I finally finished The Priory of the Orange Tree which I've been reading since March ahahaha, I read Perks of Being a Wallflower, and currently reading ... the Grishaverse books!! I devoured the first 2, and I started Ruin and Rising last night. My library only has the Swedish translations of the books, and the translation kinda sucks here and there, but overall enjoying the books and world A LOT.

And I love that it‘s actually series but you can read it in any order you want to as they each take place in different times. i was obsessed with the ghost bride when i first started reading it and i loved it until i got to the end when i was just sort of left feeling like "?????". i wish she'd have fleshed it out a lil more or given us more of an ending because it just left me feeling a bit empty when i'd originally thought it was going to be one of my favourite books. (and i enjoyed the netflix series because i thought it felt more detailed although i know some people didn't think it did the book justice)

@kendal42034 жыл бұрын
Hey! I also started reading fantasy this year so i haven't read a whole lot of it either but my favorite fantasy book that i read this year so far is To Kill A Kingdom by Alexandra Christo!! Its a retelling of the little mermaid and i loved it a lot! I also read both of Margaret Rogerson's books: An Enchantment of Ravens is fluffy and fast paced, i think its just over 200 pages, and it made me feel all warm and fuzzy. A Sorcery of Thorns is slower, about 400 pages, but i still loved it too. I'm currently reading the Shadow and Bone trilogy and am on the second book, and although its a bit trope-y, i am liking it quite a lot. That's all i've got, I hope this helps!
