At 2:34 - "Narration Edited by Lee Murphy." This individual was once an anchor and reporter at 1010 WINS through 1982. I remember, in 1978-79, hearing him at the TOH wheel on weekend mornings (Paul Sherman, the onetime "Crown Prince of Rock and Roll," was at the BOH wheel, the MOH wheel was handled first by Allen Shaw and then Palmer Payne). He made news in 1971 when he was reinstated to the station by an arbitrator after they fired him in late 1970 after he excerpted Nikita Khrushchev's memoirs (portions of which had been published in Life magazine) by quoting the former Soviet leader as referring to then-President Nixon as an "SOB" (as he abbreviated it on-air). He was also one of two ex-WINS'ers to change career courses after leaving the station. There was also the late Linda Sutter, WINS' "inflation fighter" in the late 1970's and early '80's. She left that same year (1982) to provide storylines for the "Brenda Starr, Reporter" comic strip (which she would do through 1985).
