I really want to try Jamie Jo Wright as her books that I have heard about sound good, I get how this one is confusing though when the timeliness have similar situations happening! I wonder if the Moreau is a reference to the Island of Dr Moreau by H G Wells. The Harbinger series is very plot driven without much character development happening in each cycle. It does get very strange and the romance is overly awkward. It is a good call for you not to read on.
