I also found that my reading aligns with Reese’s book club picks and I am currently making my way through all that she’s ever picked to see how many high ratings I get from them! Thanks for another great reading vlog ❤️

In regards to A Long Way Gone, there may also be a high readership because ti was a popular high school english book about a decade ago. I read it my freshman year of high school (while important to read, i'm not sure i was ready for it) but all that readership is well earned. Such a powerful story.

Lol I told you! Beware of the ants. 😂 What helped me for Hundred Years was going through videos where people explain the book in a more succinct way. Because as you said, the book really makes you feel heavy. And understanding it a bit more from people who have studied it, makes you feel a little lighter.

100 Years of Solitude: The family name is like "buen dia" - "good day" in English. You need a family tree to read this (like a lot of Russian books).

In college, a class I took was assigned One Hundred Years of Solitude. So, I read it so long ago, I can't remember the details. This was pre internet and even pre personal computers or - at least - before computers were widely used. There was no opportunity to Google anything back then. I had to rely on my fellow students, literary criticism, and cliff notes to try and figure out what was going on. Definitely not an easy novel but one with some beautiful imagery and ideas.

Love this idea! The most read are not necessarily the best, but it appears that not all the least read are hidden gems. I just listened to the Time Suck podcast today where he did a deep dive of the Banana Massacre, an event that was mentioned in the Marquez book. Worth a listen for anyone who wants more info about it.

How you're describing She Weeps Every Time You're Born sounds a bit like it has a similar structure to This is How You Lose The Time War, On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, or maybe even Piranesi. Those books also have a poetic writing style. I liked all of them but I had never heard of this one before. I also don't know if these comparisons work...

Honestly, I've tried to read the one hundred years three times, four if we count that time in high school nobody read it, and I always gave up 😢 I just can't pass a certain point. I've read about the plot to make it easier, it's still a no. There are too many books out there to keep trying 😊
