Reading the Old Testament Through John - Lesson 1: Introduction 07/28/19 Mark Lanier

Mark begins the series, “Reading the Old Testament Through John”, by introducing us to the uniqueness of the Gospel of John. Of the four Gospels, Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, John deviated from the synoptic writings of the other three. John tells different stories, using different narratives, different structures, and with a more developed theology. Mark reveals how John wrote his Gospel so people would have no doubt who Jesus was, and that all roads lead back to Jesus. We’ll see examples from Genesis, through Adam, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - through Exodus, Moses, and many more.

Did the writer said he was inspired by the holy spirit?

John 20:9 claimed they still did not understand from the scripture that Jesus had to rise from the dead: where is the O. T reference? When a person is cut. Does water gets separated from blood?

I am surprised this pastor didn't study the bible for himself and stop repeating things he read or learn from Seminary. The genesis 3.15 say nothing about a messiah. Seed can mean singular or plural. Moses was referring to Joshua not a jesus when he told the people that god would raise up a prophet like him.

Which John wrote the book of john? Its not john the disciple. No one called him the beloved in the other gospel writings. So which John. John not educated enough to write the first chapter of john.

@@pamelalanehaun7156 I know the truth from reading the passage myself. I don't need to listen to a pastor preaching inaccurate Doctrine or interpretation of the scripture. The jews don't believe that and it's their scripture. So why the Christians think they should put their interpretation in the scripture?

@@damhar You know Messianic Jews are where Christians get the writings. I'd hope you know that. You just seem embittered. It was John the Apostle. The same John who wrote Revelation. This is historical accurate. So sad you're blinded by your emotions to go & find out. Most Jews had more education than the average person in the Ancient World. They were taught to read by reading the Law. To say John was too uneducated means you are unfamiliar with Ancient Jewish customs.

@@Chic_N_Greece please show me in the history books where John the Apostle wrote the Book of John. Learned Scholars don't believe that and john is not that smart to the writing in that language. No disciple was called The Beloved disciple. But you are too believe the indoctrinated gospel.
