I have a reading journal. I made it be just efficient. Not pretty. Journaling doesn't have to be aesthetic. Nothing in life has to aesthetic. It just has to be functional. Making it look good is just a bonus. Not the bare minimum.

I thought the same, but then I started a reading journal 4 month ago anyway and I love it! I googled some pictures of reading journals for "inspiration", but mostly I just copied the things I really liked and thought I might be able to do as well. Also, just using a bunch of colorful pencils makes it look so good😂.

i highly recommend 'legendborn', its a ya fantasy duology with romance subplot (no spice) and the second one comes out in 8th of november. its about this girl whos mum just died and she moves away to college and see ends up seeing monstersss. so many plot twists, amazing writing, great characters, touches on some rlly important topics and theres a love triangle! highly highly recommend i was so pleasantly surprised

I’ve fallen in love back again with the booktuber community and fallen in love with reading again. I was in a 9 year reading slump with this year and last year only reading audiobooks. I’m hoping that in 2023 I’ll be fully back into the physical copy game

I used to work in a library and a tip to not crack your spine is flip through the pages a bunch before you read it. Like slide your finger across the pages so the fan out and go front to back and back to front

In french speaking countries, the "mini" books are the normal sized books and the ones you're usually reading are MASSIVE books. haley!! while you’re in your fantasy era, i highly recommend the mara dyer series by michelle hodkin. very similar vibes to shatter me with the romance and powers but without the dystopia. just finished the first book and instant 5 stars i adored it!! online it says it’s a paranormal romance but it’s not even rlly like that, not scary at all and i get scared by coraline LMAO so don’t let it stop you xx

I usually love cracking the spine too but hate how it looks on my shelf, but I recently learned that you can make it more flexible by sitting it up on the spine and pull down a small portion of pages, alternating front and back until you get to the center and it should be flexible but not visibly cracked!

I just got to the part where you were talking about not cracking the spine. If you lay the spine flat on a table then flatten a few pages at a time until you get to the center of the book the spine won’t crack. But make sure to alternate sides!!! :D
