Exactly what I was thinking the whole time! And as Twilight said, Starlight’s friendship with Sunburst ending originally is what led to Starlight manipulating an entire village and eventually breaking the timeline. And similarly, next season, we see Starlight and her friend group are what led to Equestria being saved once more from Chrysalis and reforming the changelings as well. That’s not even to mention Celestia and Luna, Cadence and Shining Armor, the pillars, and students who also managed to save Equestria. It’s not only The Mane Six who save the day!🤦🏻‍♀️

Yeah. G5 had some meh and even good ideas. But everything was just halfway cooked. Opaline was SUCH a dissapointment of a 'villain'. Honestly: the best character in all of G5 is Misty. She has at least a character development, and a (for G5 standards) quite tragic backstory and redemption arc.

Literally the only time Rarity never leads Spike on, is in an alternate present time caused by Starlight, "I don't associate with dragons. I don't know anypony who would". We definitely needed something early on that was more subtle, like "Oh Spikey Wikey, you're simply too young to feel that way about me. It would never work. Maybe in 20 years, perhaps. Darling". I had to add Darling to the end. Just so you read it in Rarity's voice. lol

I mean the in twenty years part isn’t the best, but I see what you’re going for. I guess in ‘The Best Night Ever’ Rarity doesn’t want to get changed in front of Spike, but that was played as a joke since ponies don’t wear clothes and for the rest of the time she flirts back. Maybe they could have an episode where Rarities parents get injured and Spike realizes just how different the stages of life that the two of them are in. Then maybe have someone who leads Rarity on about whether they’re going to hire her, but they were really just playing along with her without any real intention of giving her the job and then Spike and Rarity have a heart-to-heart conversation about stuff. This is honestly inspiring me to write a whole Fic about this.

Sofia The First actually is a really fun series full of great songs and complex characters, plus it is kinda needed to understand Elena of Avalor which is a phenomenal series I might add. If you like MLP you’ll probably like it too, but yeah, they really should’ve checked that they reviewed the right series at least.

There was all that talk about people saying Twilight considers her and her friends more important then others, or the show is saying that, and yet in the episode with Starlight Twilight flat out says she doesn't know or understand why her friendship with her friends is so important but it is. However what this review is describing, is not seduction, but plain manipulation and exploitation. Rarity uses spike's crush on her as a methods to get what she wants since its the feeling is not mutual. But hey, i'm no expert. Just speaking out of observation. Also take note, that spike is still a child, meaning he doesn't know better. That episode isn't even a good example of it as Twilight wasn't thinking she's the best or being malicious/uncaring, she just got incredibly competitive and obsessed with winning - which can be a problem, yes, but a different point entirely, imo (and by the end of that episode, she learned a lesson that *also* goes against their point, making this moot anyway XD)

Honestly, the most reasonable review was deffo the creepy relationship between Spike and Rarity.. Like, I noticed throughout the whole series, even as a kid, that Rarity took advantage or Spike's feelings and tricked him into doing things.

the only critique that was valid was the spike and rarity thing. the rest is surfice level judgments of the show, I had my eyes opened to this show through the discord music video. then watched season 1's first 2 episodes, and I was pretty hooked, its not as bad as I thought, grinding out season 1 , Dash became my favorite and rooted for her dream of being a wonder bolt. season 2 I was hyped to see Discord officially and best character hands down for me. season 2 onward was just me loving it and the only character I never liked is Rarity, Never really vibed with her

When I was younger and I would watch MLP, I felt constantly excited, and yeah it felt a little weird at times, but ultimately seeing the main 6 or any other character would divert my attention from it. But trying to watch it probably around 10(?)years later, it doesn’t click with me like it used to. And that’s okay, we grow out of things. But that doesn’t mean we should be hateful towards the show, it was a great learning tool for little me, and I will always have a soft spot for MlP. Even if I don’t have that same feeling for it anymore, I always will feel affection for the show itself. It helped me grow up more than my own parents, it’s taught me many things, and I’m glad the show exists. It held my hand as a kid, and I can’t ever find a way to thank the creators for making such a wonderful show, and a lovely memory to hold onto to.

In my unimportant and unpopular opinion, I don't hate the show but at the same time I don't like it either. Here are my reasons: In G4: 1. Most, if not all, villains got redeemed which was fine at the beginning, but later I started to think that it's boring. For example: Starlight Glimmer, Sunset Shimmer, Trixie, Nightmare Moon, Discord, etc. 2. The villains' redemption was done too fast and is too sudden in my opinion. For instance: Discord, Sunset Shimmer. In many two-part episodes the villain would be introduced in the first part of the episode and in the next he/she would get redeemed so fast that it feels too rushed. And some villains (like Nightmare Moon) were not threatening at all, she barley did anything to be considered as a terrible villain. 3. The villain's motivations for being the bad guy are too weird and odd, Cozy Glow wants to be the Empress of Friendship (Idk what that means...), Nightmare Moon only wants darkness and night and nothing else, King Sombra only wanted to conquer the Crystal Empire and nothing else, but why? Well, I guess we will never know, because we never get an explanation for anything. 4. The relationship between the characters and their parents is terrible, the parents leave their children and barley see or contact them, and in some episodes where they appear it's obvious that they don't care about their child or that their child doesn't care about them. Example: the parents of Applejack, Applebloom and Big Mac are constantly said to be "away/gone", Where are they if they are gone, are they gone like dead or are they somewhere else in Equestria? Another example: In one episode of the (I guess) 5th or 6th season, Twilight's parents invite her to go on a vacation with them and her brother, and instead of being happy to finally see her parents after a long time, the first things she asks is "how am I going to fulfill my princess duties?", excuse me?!?! That's so rude. 5. Too many plot holes: it's fine and acceptable for a series to not explain everything in detail right away, to give the fans enough room for theories and to make the audience interact more with it. However in my opinion the 4th generation of MLP has too many plot holes and unexplainable stuff, sometimes the writing is so lazy I ask myself "why did they waste time making this episode" 6. Too many filler episodes: I'm so much against filler episodes because, as their name suggests, they serve no purpose except to make the season longer, and makes the audience wait so long to get an actual episode. Also it doesn't add any depth or character development to the series. 7. Weird power dynamics: why can only females be alicorns? Why are only females the rulers? (Cadence is the ruler of the Crystal Empirie, Celestia Is the ruler of Equestria, etc.) Why not males too? And why are they princesses, not queens? All of this should have been explained to the audience by the writers but they didn't do so. 8. Too simple character designs: I like the artsyle of the series but I think the characters are too simply designed. 9. Illogical additions: when the character gets older they start to wear clothes, why? Were they okay with walking undressed as kids and teens? I find that kinda funny 10. I cannot describe to you how much I hate Discod, I neither like his powers, nor his character design, nor his personality, nor his motivations when he was a villain, nor do I like his voice. So I would never think of adding him in the version of mine. 11. The idea of friendship being the cure for everything is so ridiculous. Throughout the series tons of villains were defeated by "the magic of friendship" which is weird as only was it activated by Twilight (and only Twilight) giving a speech about how important it is. The main reason why I hate episode 25 of the last season (the 9th season) is because the villains were so powerful, they had everything they need to win and they were about to do so, but suddenly they stopped when Twilight commanded them to stop and gave a speech about how powerful she and her magic of friendship is... And BOOM they were defeated.... Like bruh what?! 12. I hate the idea that when the 6 "main" characters (Twilight, Applejack, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie Pie) do something good, the only character that gets the praise is Twilight herself, and IF the others get praised, they are not refered to as "the mane/main 6" but RATHER as "TWILLIGHT and her friends" 13. Characters like Pinkie Pie are annoying in my opinion. Making matters worse, she suppossd to be an adult, but she acts so childish - too childish if you ask me. 14. Twilight's redemption in the 2nd episode felt rushed, in the first episode we found out that she never had real friends and she is an introvert, but suddenly she changes her mindset in the next episode. It was done too fast. As an introvert myself, I can say that out of my own experience, a person's personality doesn't change in one night. Same thing would apply to G5, while G5 is still a bit better in my opinion than G4 because there is conflict in the first movie because of the pony tribe division. But it still lacks a lot in terms of character design, character development and villain motivations. Now looking back at the messages and discussion in this chat, does my version cover all these points?

Aww heck yeah, thanks for the 10/10! Congrats on the wedding! I'm not someone caught up with the show at all, have been off that train for like ten years or so, but a friend sent me a video I really liked which I guess wound up kicking off this getting recommended, which I'm happy I chose to click, because what a fun video! Script kept me engaged thoroughly from beginning to end, super constructive criticism on it all, but really, really funny too. Lots of critics who try to be funny fall into simply being loud, that sorta Nostalgia Critic cartoon approach, but you're fantastic at expressing yourself in a way that's exaggerated/cartoony without doing that. Not sure the best way to word it, but you sound like a good voice actor. Reminded me of some of the funny delivery in something like Invader Zim at points, and the reactions to the absurdity of some of the "reviews," was all gold stuff. Random brony analysis video winds up being a true banger of a KZbin video, love to see it!

the thing with the s5 finale is also just the fact starlight didnt know that twilight and her friends were that important. She lived in that isolated village for who knows how long, she didnt know about twilight and her friends stopping villains over and over again with the power of their friendship and saving equestria from doom in the process, all she knew is that this so called princess walked into her village one day and put everyone against her when she had tried (through pretty shady methods) to build a community where nobody would be excluded and wanted to take revenge ON TWILIGHT by ruining the event that dominoed into her and her friends meeting. Hell, had she stayed to hear all of twilight's presentation she'd have realized that the mane6's friendship was way more significant to equestria as a whole, but she didnt

It’s disappointing that the review about Rarity and Spike is actually a fair review, considering we know Rarity’s personality and we know she wouldn’t seduce anyone by her will or use anyone, but somehow she does with Spike.. I don’t know what the writers were thinking when they were animating these parts but they really kind of “villainshed” Rarity. I have watched the show and I have seen that Rarity enjoy’s Spike’s company and loves him as a friend but in some parts she really acted like a different character. Which makes me think the writers were switched around episodes cause it doesn’t make sense otherwise.

7:19 There is an s8 or s7 episode where the CMC go to the hippogriffs to help because of a friendship quest. Twilights treated rewlly well and is off most or the trip learning about the hippogriffs. However fhe hippogriff that the CMC go to help is tworn between staying above land with his dad, or using their sea form and staying in the water with their mom, its a divorced parents kinda thing. They eventually make a 50/50 deal and the episode ends. But jn that episode the CMC and twi become the sea form of a hippogriff.

I personally find FiM to be overrated. At least until the later seasons of 5+ when they got lore heavy and started carving out their own world and expanding everything. Most people disliked that shift but I'm not entirely sure why. The earlier seasons did feel like any other show to me. There wasn't that fantasy element as strongly yet and the stories told just didn't really grip me. It was very slow paced was my main issue. I hope people can see where I'm coming from with this. Or at least that people are out there who also enjoyed the lore-heavy shift in later MLP. it was praised in Adventure Time but seemed panned in this fandom.

I will say the personalities of and the fact there's 6 leads, really bolstered the show from the start at least. Having a character template isn't a bad thing. Especially if you shake it up. Rarity's the OBVIOUS exception she's not what anyone expects from the "fashion one". And her not even being planned from the start's even more awesome to pull it off. Applejack's the family-oriented one but her parents are dead. Fluttershy had a character arc. Rainbow, Rarity, and Applejack had their CMC counterpart to bounce off of. I do wish we got more nuanced interactions. "How do rainbow/applejack and rarity truly feel about each other?" Wasn't properly tackled until The End in Friend in season EIGHT. Of course it makes sense to tackle the easier plots to get your show warmed up first. Just saying that it wasn't entirely anything special in the early parts when it got popular. Edit: And the writer's seemed to just clearly hate animals which always furiously rubbed me the wrong way. Fluttershy peeves me off as someone who's animal obsessed. Anyone who tried to change an animals diet would be tarred and feathered. Not even as an actual animal professional but even people giving their housepets vegan diets are rightfully punished for it. It just geniunely seemed to be done in bad faith which was pretty sad..
