Bob having an Eeyore voice was too funny, and the voice you did for Olive was exactly how I pictured Olive's voice when reading Olive Kitteridge

Glad I nailed it!

Wow... What a great reading month you've had. Of these I read: Wild Houses: your description is exactly how I experienced it. Held: I'm one of those who loved this book; for me it's the best of the nine Bookers I've read. The Safekeep: I agree with you, but I did find the first part intriguing as well. Books on my TBR list: The Lost Love Songs Of Bhosie Singh: I bought this after you talked about it before; so looking forward to reading it. There Are Rivers In The Sky: another one I bought, it's waiting impatiently to be read. Tell Me Everything: I will buy it, but I'll read The Burgess Boys first; I read all the others and loved them. Saltblood: it was recommended to me by someone who knew I love to read seafaring stories when I'm by the sea; so I'll have to get it by the next holiday. Wonderful how you read aloud to your husband. I used to do lots of voices too reading to my children when they were younger. Thanks for the videos!

Loved our trip to Ireland when hubby was alive, - his grandparents(mother’s side) were from County Cork, - so, family memories. He kissed the Blarney Stone-not me, - Yes you get best supporting actor for that piece -

Thanks for talking about The Curse of Pietro Houdini. I was intrigued after reading about it in Bookpage, but I haven't heard much about it.

i listened to the intro while washing dishes and not looking at the screen, and i thought when i heard the Banshees quote that you as a joke had just edited in the actual clip from the movie. i rewinded and it was actually you! the accent and voice was spot on i truly thought it was Barry xD

I’m currently listening to Abide With Me by Elizabeth Strout I’m catching up with her books before Tell Me Everything In August I read The Burgess Boys I love her characters.

Ah great! She’s so good.

Thank you, Eric!🌷Those editions of Elizabeth Strout’s books next to one another look lovely!!! I only read My Name is Lucy Barton in that edition and actually listened to other Lucy and Olive novels narrated by Kimberly Farr, who does an excellent job (she’s almost as good as you!😉). I finished Olive, Again a week ago or so and found it good, but also rather depressing. So I’ve decided to take a break from the series and am currently listening to a lighter audiobook by Alexander McCall Smith. I’ll probably start listening to Tell Me Everything next week. I think some of the books I read in August will be among my best reads of 2024: My Friends by Hisham Matar, The New York Trilogy by Paul Auster, Life: A User’s Manual by Georges Perec and Medea - A Modern Retelling by Christa Wolf, which gives a totally different interpretation of the myth.

I have read a lot of books that I enjoy but I have never read a book out loud. My mother and I did talk about the book Where The Crawdads Sing for days as we read it separately and what we thought of it. We both liked the book.

Ah Eric, you were in my part of the world..I spy you on the Sky Road in Clifden there and on the Aran Islands so I reckon you spent some time in my hometown Galway too. Glad you enjoyed it.

Yes, only spent a fleeting amount of time in Galway on our way into and out of the countryside but really liked the city - enjoyed the statue of the two Wildes on a bench and had a great dinner at Kai. Do you know that restaurant?

where did you find those editions of the Kitteridge books? They look beautiful. Also I can't seem to find a list of the books in that series in order. Any suggestions? Thanks so much.

Great wrap up video. I won't bother with Held or Wild Houses. I'm looking forward to reading Tell Me Everything and the latest Elif Shafak.

Regarding Saltbridge: I've always wondered two things: A) Where does one learn how to captain a pirate ship; and B) Where does one get a pirate ship? However, I think I do understand how towns did develop trafficking in pirated goods.

I gave up on Held as well, quite early on. It just didn't feel interesting to me and I couldn't keep focus or even remember what I read. It's funny because usually I love sparse, vignette-like style of writing, but if you write like that, you really should to have something interesting to say. Jen Campbell described it best: it feels like the author chose that sparse style of writing in order to make the text feel more profound, but there's no real depth there...
