You should do a video where you go into barns and pick out books you haven’t seen/know nothing about and decide if you read them by the first few pages!

another opinion: authors should put trigger warnings and spice warnings in their books
@Zohaa58
@Zohaa58 2 сағат бұрын
Exactly completely agreeing that authors should provide trigger warnings. As someone who experiences intense reactions to graphic content, like blood etc ( I was reading about childbirth) While reading, I unexpectedly felt overwhelmed and scared, (Also collapsed in the classroom lol ) Trigger warnings can help readers prepare emotionally and make informed choices about what to read.

Depends on the kind of book, and honestly the cover. Like how most romance books now look very cutesy and childlike, but some are super smutty, those should have spice warnings. But if I'm in the horror section, I don't want a trigger warning list. I know what I'm getting into because I can read the summary, I know it's a horror novel so it'll probably be messed up, and I don't want every aspect of the book spoiled for me.

I’m the exact opposite with watching adaptations! I’ll watch em if I didn’t care about the book but if the books a favorite, I won’t watch the movie/show cause I don’t want the image in my head ruined!

yeah the negative review hate is so weird! i think a lot of people do get sensitive about people having different taste, but why can't we all look at 1 star reviews of our favorite books and laugh because the reason the reviewer hated it is the reason we loved it? books are never flawless, but if they're your fave it means you can look past those ❤

I don't want to be that person but fantasy is literally the genre were most characters are killed off. Due to the nature of the world and the plot. Romantasy...is another story. Adult fantasy that doesn't focus on romance, but sometimes have way better romance than romantasy in my opinion, break my heart all the time because of how many characters I fell in love with died 😭 But with romantasy authors are too scared of doing that because they're too scared of their fans being upset and not reading their books again, which is a pretty big issue actually.
@elisabethprice4697
@elisabethprice4697 Сағат бұрын
Ok but if you feel that way about the fantasy books you are reading then you should try to read higher fantasy! Stuff that’s not romantasy! Cause characters you care about die all the time and the stakes are so high!

15:15 and 16:59 - THIS! that's why i dont think every book needs a media adaptation.. it ruins imagination and most of the time completely ignores the book itself like the message and plotlines within. while im happy the author has the success, i think they should sometimes leave it alone. Audiobooks do count as reading, it has the word 'BOOK' in the name and also as someone who struggles to focus sometimes, it's helpful especially with pronounciations and actually consuming the book even if it's in another format. also i think it's okay to have an negative opinion about a book but when the author themselves encourages their fans to go attack that person for having it (even if they weren't tagged in said review) then it's not okay.

The take that if a book takes effort to understand/read it's not very good is wild to me. Like go read a children's book if you wanna understand it without effort. Sure, sometimes it's nice to read something that doesn't take effort, but reading in itself is a mental process. Might as well think more and learn something and get out of the things you read.

As for audiobooks I listen to them all the time and I do think you can say you’ve read a book even If you’ve listened to it! But if we’re being technical than reading a book is the act of using your eyes to physically read a book or screen… so you technically did listen to it but you have “read” the book and it’s the same content as having read a physical version!

I am somewhat like your brother when it comes to DNFing after a few pages. I will try a sample before I buy it but there are times where I have a moment of weakness and buy on a whim lol 13:45 I had a discussion with my coworkers about this and pretty much all of them said that if they watched the movie then they won’t read the book, but I’m on the other end.

As for my unpopular opinion: it is that romance books are just plain boring, bordering on bad depending on your view of life and stuff… as mine is a Christian view I don’t really appreciate spice… also I just feel like nothing interesting happens in romance… like who cares about people in our world who want to obsess over another person or whatever! I mean I’m not trying to be mean or anything you can like anything you want but that’s just my thoughts on it!
