The blocks are called Cuisenaire rods, as a retired primary school teacher in the Uk, I used these all the time. You can use them for teaching place value, multiplication, division and other mathematical ideas. Worth looking up ideas.

Oh they still have those fraktion learning sticks 😍 I used them to learn fractions but also multiplication ☺️ and that was in 1999/2000 when I was 7-8 years old ☺️ even the box and colours are the same 😃 could play with them at school for ages ☺️ and this was in Sweden 🇸🇪

For covering up personal information, instead of your hand, what I normally use is a sticker to cover it up, duct tape, use a black marker, or whatever you can find around the house.
