I agree 5 or so dollars for beaver is a joke. They aren't worth the work at 15.00 each
@johnnymartin97953 күн бұрын
most fur trapping aint worth the work and the effort it takes but it is super fun if your not relying on the money. in most cases doesn't even pay for the fuel

Don't trap to many beaver let the market be hungry for fur. They drop the price 25% fur is to cheap

The biggest problem with wild fur is that there isn't enough of it. The big manufacturers in asia are buying a billion dollars worth of mink a year and doing huge production runs with it. When they look at wild fur and see lots of 1000 similar raccoon here and there it isn't worth tooling up the factory. If we had 5 million raccoons they could make an industry out of it.
@billc34052 күн бұрын
@Trythis837 well getting 5 million raccoons in the hay days of the fur market would be almost impossible of not impossible. 500,000 raccoon was the biggest collection ever at a international fur auction I believe. I was at that sale in person
@Trythis8372 күн бұрын
@ well China puts out about 50 million pelts a year of mink, fox and raccoon dog. The fur industry is absolutely booming. If we want to compete with ranch fur we need the highest possible volume of a consistent product in order for it to be viable to make a run of garments big enough to supply their demand. They want to make a coat that they can sell 100,000 units of and to do that they need 100s of thousands of pelts that look the same.
@Trythis8372 күн бұрын
@ by limiting supply you're rendering the fur basically useless to the commercial buyer and actually causing prices to crash.
@billc34052 күн бұрын
@@Trythis837 with wild fur it has never been or worked that way. You have any idea how many pelts it takes to make 100,000 coat that all would look the same.

A beaver cowboy hat is 600 dollars up to about 1200 dollars. Seems like somebody is making money, but it ain't the guy w/leaky waders and an aching back.

I sold 3 blanket beaver this fall for $18. They were non target catches and not prime. We’ll see what I get come spring I guess. I usually catch around 75 of the. Last year was a $32 average. I don’t see that this year. Lucky because we got a great muskrat population and I can make money on a $3 average but not a lot

Sure .... trap beaver hard he says ... so GFW can cut the price another 30% as they already have !! What happened to "the buyers warehouse is full and that main buyer is only buying a limited amount of only 2XL size beaver ??? I've sold you nearly 300 beaver in the past 2 years ... and cutting the price over 30% is just unfair ! Waiting for your reply.

Better off tanning them and selling them that way or making gloves/hats out of them the prices they are giving makes it seem like there not worth much. I wondering what they make off each of them
